View Full Version : WinMo : Took delivery of my HD2 this morning
It is awesome. Totally dwarfs the iPhone in terms of build quality, screen size and quality. iPhone OS is definitely a better UI than winmo/senseui but the fact I can have stuff running in the background just makes the difference for me - a real frustration on the iPhone.
The 1GHz Snapdragon processor is MASSIVELY fast - its like no other handheld I have ever used for speed.
The included 2Gb MicroSD card needs upgrading but otherwise its a fairly complete package.

Looks nice although I don't know too much about the spec. In some ways I do miss a WinMo HTC phone but in others I just like the way the iPhone works. Can't say I like the size much though. The iPhone was quite a step up in size from my old Diamond and I don't think I'd want to go bigger again.

Holy giant screen Batman!
I'm at CES so will be hunting down the new Google phone at some point, will be interesting to see how it compares to my Hero.
I've been using my HD2 for about a month, and I love it (aside from a few bugs). I've had to buy and download g-alarm as the HD2 alarm is very ropey. I've overslept because of it.
I've had a few hangs, plus I've noticed a few spelling mistakes. It's made my iPod Touch feel small.

I want a HD2 with a keyboard.
Touch Pro2 isn't bad - just love the HD's screen size. :D
Any good vids of it in action? Looks good though - nice big screen. What's the UI like?

Its sense so theyve hidden most things windows related (thank god) I still would rather this awesome hardware with android (which i guess is basically what the nexus is). Only because android seems easier to skin properly and generally quicker...
Me too, but hey, it does the job.
It's annoying when the windows stuff appears, as it looks terrible. UI is more complicated than the iPhone (based on my Touch). The screen is stunning. I cannot say this enough, I'm blown away.

HTC should start making android and winmo flavours of all phones! So the user get to choose the final software used on their stunning hardware, its such a shame it gets so crippled!

The reduction of features are requirements from the operators to allow them to charge for extra services (e.g. O2 charge £15/month to tether an iPhone) and as stand alone devices they will never sell in large enough quantities allow a hardware manufacturer to dump an operator and go it alone.
Annoyingly economics frequently get in the way of our geeky dreams :(

I don't mind for tethering etc... I just mean being allowed to use the OS of my choice on hardware i want, HD2 is a stunning piece of hardware why can't i have android on it though to complement? I dont want winmo, it doesnt matter what platform i choose they may temporarily bar tethering and other services but that won't stop me tethering or doing what i want via 3rd party services. The only thing that is really difficult to change (without the help of the xda devs) is the OS itself!
