BNP must be celebrating. Britain's now 100% white!
How come Ireland escaped anyway?

I thought that pic was incredible when I saw it on the news earlier.
We are also only 2 degrees warmer than the south pole at the moment apparently!
-20 overnight in some places tonight. I thought I might put a jumper on.
Will will still be in his shorts ;D

And Stan will be in his pants!

We should make that map set up so we can somehow all tag where we are, and make like a "BD here I am" type thing, so we can all see where eachother is.

My mother told me off last weekend. :'(
Is that a true picture - surely it's a bit of photoshopping no?
No it's genuine, it's on the NASA site.

Nope, it was shown on the main news this evening with a reference to it being a satelite image.
Wow Amazing! Even more amazing that it looks so brilliant too. That's pretty cool. Is there a higher res image anywhere? How come there are no green bits in the places that didn't get any snow - or did everywhere in the UK get snow?
Here you go - I think this is the full size one: http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/gallery/2010007-0107/GreatBritain.A2010007.1150.250m.jpg

Ok so there are quite a few green bits... but my word, didn't realise there had been that much snow! Cooooooooooooooooooooooool.
Yep that's me down there on the white bit :p

I got told off at school when I was (much) younger for suggesting that saying during a lesson of 'common phrases and what they mean' :'(

Possibly the difference in temperatures between the land mass and the sea. Or, it's just as cold, but lacking the right moisture. Certain air masses get far inland before dumping, others drizzle before clearing inland.
*hugs his meteorological certificates*
Now, who wants a lecture on quasi-stationary occluded fronts? Stop yawning at the back!
I think this cold weather will kill my battery. :p

Pleased to see that, unlike most weather maps, they've remembered that the Shetland Isles are actually a part of the UK :p
That's quite snowy.

Walked around half a mile at 4:00am in nothing but a long sleeved t-shirt.
Epic beer jacket.
Going for a run in a bit :D Long sleeved t-shirt & a gillet. Larrrrrrrvely! :D
Love this photo, it's now my phone wallpaper :)
I think this cold weather will kill my battery. :p
Yup, stone cold dead. It was already showing its age at Christmas, can't blame it for dying after 5 days of sitting at -2 and -10c some nights. Not bad for 12 years of service. :D
It's -3 outside, it's snowing heavily but we just had an almighty flash of lightning and a burst of thunder. Is that supposed to happen?
yeah we had thunder & lightning on Monday. No rain though!
