All about the olive!
This is so exciting :D
Spanner in the works, I like the bluey/tealy one :)
That bluey/tealy one seems to be the same colour as my old suitcases. You'd think I'd vote for it, but I won't - I'd go with olive - has future camouflage potential too. :)
Though they really ought to invent one that changes colour on cue like the first pic. :p

We've been back to the scan center today to get some more pictures of Roo :)
This was really a present for my parents who are here with us this weekend but obviously we enjoyed the experience as well :)
I'm really pleased with the scans so I'm posting quite a few :D
The letters FL on this chart stand for Femur Length and >95 means that our baby's FL is longer than more than 95% of babies of her age, Roo is going to be tall!

Woah, those scans are scary!! Way better quality than I expected!
Whee! Great scans. I could't make out the first one, then it suddenly appeared. In the second one it looks like she's smiling :)
They are brilliant! Are they expensive?

BB x
They aren't cheap but you get a number of things that make it worthwhile including information on how the baby is doing, her weight her general well being, another confirmation of the sex, loads of colour prints, loads of b&W prints, all the pics on a CD and a DVD of the entire scan which shows her moving etc.
If anyone wants to see the DVD I can post it somewhere, its fascinating if you are interested but fundamentally boring if you're aren't :D
It's a unique experience and very moving, we justified it by taking my parents as their birthday present and they were very moved so it was well worth it. NHS scans are a bit production line and they really just want to check all the organs etc for potential problems, you don't get much in the way of 3D if anything on the NHS. This was 30 minutes of 3D/4D and we got to see our baby which is priceless :)
MB
I may be interested mate, as mentioned, I've just been teaching these methods (or trying to teach them!) so to be able to see it used would be great!
I wouldnt - of course - show it publically, but would find it fascinating if its not too much hassle?
Muchos Gracias.

I hope you've already startedthe baby album with the 2D ones & these :) I think they r brill, would love to have this done (when I get there :p) I am assuming tho, that with a 4D scan u will deffo know what sex the baby is, even if u didnt know already?
Because I wouldnt want to know, but would want the scan, if that makes sense?
Also, some babies, you can tellif they r a boy or a girl by their faces-i know we have the benefit of hindsight here, but thats deffo a little lady there :)

They don't have to tell you and they spend most of the time looking at the face, to be honest if they didn't tell you you probably wouldn't be able to work it out unless they showed you a close up of that area and if you say you don't want to know then they won't :)

Mei is right but the green bit at the bottom is a fold-able bag all ready for shopping etc.
We went to pick up the cot and changing table yesterday. I got the changing table as a 'buy it now' on Ebay and the seller mentioned that she had a Stokke Sleepi cot too and she said we could have it for £150, they usually sell on Ebay for ~£300 and this one had a canopy and canopy rod which are ~£50 new. New the cheapest I have seen for these together is £750 without the canopy so thats a nice little saving towards other things :)
This is the jigsaw I now have to put together

Well spotted! We couldn't resist when we spotted it in Ikea and we don't want the cats to feel too left out with all the new purchases for Roo.

Yup the 'Trebus' room has been cleared!! A lot of the stuff went to charity shops, a few things were binned and some has been relocated (probably should have all been given away but it was traumatic enough as we both seem to have hoarding tendancies!).
It feels like we are starting to get ready, at least on the practical side of things :)
It is, we are trying to provide them with lots of places to hide.
MB
Our cat found my wife's old laundry basket (we've got 3 for some unfathomable reason), and co-opted that as her favourite hiding place. Hides in it convinced that we can't see her, and as soon as you walk past *pounce* you suddenly have a cat on your ankle. ;D

1 day to full term, three weeks until her due date
It is doubtful that we'll be allowed to go to full term, Aitch was diagnosed with high blood pressure, thankfully not Pre-elampsia though which is usually the cause of high BP and can be very bad for the baby and mother.
We have however been told that it is unlikely that we'll be able to go past her due date (lots of babies don't come until up to 2 weeks after their due date. With high BP the longer we leave it the more risk so it is likely that Roo will be born within the next 3 weeks either naturally with with a little assistance.
It's been a tough week and Aitch is very tired and her BP meds make her feel a bit crappy but she has finished work now and is taking things easily.
It's easier for me to post updates on Facebook especially when we are at the hospital so if you don't have me as a friend already then you can always add me for more regular updates :)

I am also amazed at the complete lack of stretch marks on Aitch's belly.
Thanks for everyone's interest and kind comments.
Well all seems to be going well. The meds have brought down my blood pressure and I am being checked over at the hospital 2x a week to keep an eye on things. This last phase is defintely been the toughest for me. The tiredness and fuzzy headedness has really set in and the standing and bending required in everyday tasks brings on aches and discomfort before long. Although I'm trying to accept this and I apreciate I've had a great pregnancy overall it can be frustrating as my nesting instincts are making me want to get everything ready and perfect and I miss my full mental faculties! MB has been fantastic at helping to get things ready and weathering my moods and scattiness which has been a huge help :)
Mostly I just feel excited that she will be here soon (and a bit worried that I'll know what to do with her!!). Our next key date is an appointment with a consultant on Monday to assess how we're doing and discuss a plan for Roo's arrival, in particular if/when they may consider inducing my labour. I'm going into it with a open mind and ready to question any recommendation but fortunately we have met this consultant before and I feel confident that she will give us a clear and balanced opinion and also listen to our views.
Good luck H! Sure you will all be fine!

I see where you were coming from. Early on most people's guesses on and off the board were for a boy. However, from 16 weeks we have known that Roo is a little girl. We didn't mind either way but it has been nice to know as it has made her easier to imagine and we have had fun decorating and buying pretty clothes for her without being limited to neutrals (as seen in MB's pics).
An update from Monday/my appointments this week:
I meant to update on here after Monday but it's taken me several days to actually get down to it. I think that due to a combination of being full of hormones and not being at work with my usual routine my sense of time is a bit fuzzy these days! I have that feeling of time going both fast and slow - if that makes any sense at all – and also of wanting things to happen soon but also apprehension that everything is about to change starting with what will be the most challenging physical event of my life so far  :)
Anyway, Roo is continuing to do well, she is active and growing as expected. My BP has been under control and I have been generally OK (just the usual late pregnancy gripes - tired and emotional, fed up of not being able to bend or see my feet!). We agreed with the consultant that I would be booked in to be induced on next Wednesday evening (my expected due date). This can take up to two days to be effective or I could go into labour naturally anytime before then.
At today’s follow up appointment my BP has risen slightly and blood test results showed my kidneys are having to work a bit harder. All other checks were good and Roo is still getting everything she needs so it is not an immediate cause for concern but the doctor on duty suggested moving the date for induction forward. However, due to the weekend and other bookings this is likely to be Tuesday evening, so only one day earlier. I go to the hospital again on Sunday for follow up checks and they will review this again then. ...so still a bit of uncertainty but whatever happens now Roo should be with us by the end of next week at the latest!
‘Nesting’ really seemed to have kicked in for me the last couple of days – I suddenly feel compelled to undertake tasks like reorganising and cleaning out all the kitchen cupboards – so maybe nature will take it's course and it will be sooner rather than later!!

I am very very tired and Aitch is pretty much pooped
We went in to hospital on Sunday for routine testing for Aitch's blood pressure, we were both hoping that if her levels were in any way out they would induce and that is exactly what happened. At approximately 8.30 they administered a gel that is designed to make the cervix ready for delivery, after going to get stuff for Aitch I was told to go home and get some sleep (retrospectively I'm glad but at the time I was a bit peev'ed).
I went to bad at approx 12 with a glass of wine and fell asleep pretty quickly thinking I would go in at 9 and they would administer a second gel. 4am the phone rings and I was asked to make my way to the hospital Aitch had been moved to delivery. I dived in the shower as it is suggested that both parents refrain for wearing deodorant and perfume so baby can start to recognise us by smell.
I was at the hospital at 4.20 and walked in to a room closely followed by the anesthetist. Originally the plan was not to have an epidural but on speaking to the midwife Aitch's blood pressure had skyrocketed and an epidural will often bring BP down so it was more for that than pain relief. Retrospectively I remember being told that her BP was so high they were worried she would start fitting, I left it to the battalion of doctors and consultants and within a couple of hours she was stable and BP was normal and the doctors dispersed leaving us was a midwife and student midwife who were great.
Serious labor was long at 2.5 hours of pushing but I honestly can't remember how long it was I just remember the feeling of coaxing Aitch on as much as I could and trying to make her comfortable. Pretty much at the point where a consultant would have come in with a ventouse or calipers and with Aitch running on empty we had one last try and I have no idea how but she pushed Amelie out, she was born in one push, shoulders followed her head rather than having to wait for the next contraction, she just popped through although I was locked in eye contact with Aitch and only knew when Amelie was put on her chest in a towel looking like a shaved spider monkey covered in fish glue.
http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/4873/img1391.jpg
I cut the cord, I didn't think I would but it's not a chance you get many times.
The time between 4 and 11.34 this morning was on the longest and shortest in my life, I honestly can't remember how many pushes there were but it doesn't really matter, it was a lot but it worked and she's here.
She is quite literally perfect.
She has the longest fingers of any baby I have ever seem, not fat, perfectly proportioned and just like her mums
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/8386/img3133.jpg
She also has Aitch's long legs
http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/3324/img3130.jpg
I was kicked off the ward at 10.00 but will be back at 8.30 tomorrow and I hope we'll be able to bring her home everything is ready here. She seemed a bit slow to work out that Aitch's boobs aren't just pillows and she can get food from them but towards the end of the day she seemed to get the message although there is still work to do. As much as I want them home I don't want Aitch being stressed about feeding so it's best she stays in as long as needed.
I'm sure you'll be throughly bored with pics after a few weeks but I'm afraid you'll have to indulge me :)

So utterly utterly chuffed for you guys :)
those are some long legs & fingers! Happy to indulge as many pictures as you want to show us. I got a text from Sam saying Roo had been born and I went off to a quiet place for a nosey and shed a little tear myself! Congratulations (Had to laugh about MY baby name (great minds huh? ;), but she's so beautiful I've gotten over it pretty quick :D)

Another girl here crying reading the birth story too. Those fingers are the longest i've seen as well.
Give Mummy Aitch a gentle hug from me, and well done Daddy. You're doing the right thing wanting her to stay until she feels more confident with feeding her.
Lots of love again, and post as many pics as you like. x x

I remembered you saying about not being able to get onto fb at work and knew you'd want to know :)
My bets are now on a piano playing basketball player with fingers and legs like that :)
Now let the sleepless nights commence :)
Wow, those are the longest legs and fingers I have ever seen on a baby! Definitely will grow up with her mummy's features, but definitely has Daddy's face too!
Hope H (and Roo) can come home soon, but of course when they are ready.
Bloody hell. Seems like only yesterday that you announced this. Hadn't realised that things moved on so quickly. Congrats mate. All the best to you all :)

We came home on Wednesday evening and are things seem to be going well.
I stayed up with her on Wednesday night as Heather was very tired and needed a nights sleep and Amelie was fine, she is a placid baby and doesn't tend to cry unless there is a good reason. I have got to grips with nappies and to be honest they aren't terrible to do, just a bit messy but not stinky. Because Amelie is a little lazy Heather is expressing milk for her but it is working well and Amelie is getting all the food she needs, we are hoping that she will move to a more direct delivery method soon but there is no rush.
We have recieved lots of cards and presents and they are delightful so thank you to everyone who has been in touch and to everyone who sent messages on Facebook and text messages, sorry if we haven't been in touch to say thank you but she is pretty intense and time consuming (I spend a lot of time just stareing at her whilst she sleeps). Midwives have been and given her a clean bill of health so everything is positive and we just need to get used to surviving on half the usual amount of sleep
MB & H & A
Glad to hear that all is going so well :)
*hugs to you all*
It's really odd just how much it feels like a new family baby has been born, rather than friends. Big hugs to you all xx

As Matt says you and all our other BD friends are very welcome to visit. Just drop us a message of when suits you and we'll confirm if it's good for us. Matt is off for another 3 weeks and we are around pretty much all the time.
The only exception is the week commencing 2 August as Matt's parents are visiting. I would have thought we could still fit in short visits but the grandparents will be the priority (many of you have met them and know how friendly they are but as they live in Wales and have other commitments (Matt's nan and 3 dogs) we need to make the most of the time they are here).

Those are great Chris :D
Things generally seem to be going well, Amelie was getting quite jaundiced to start with but she's a lot better now and nice and pink because we've been keeping her by the window in the sunlight and feeding her every two hours.
We have had a couple of evenings where she has been quite ratty but she's now having Infacol with each feed and it seems to help and she's been a lot better.
We've found a new favorite place to sit, next to me on the sofa which seems to help calm her without her getting too hot.

Can't believe how small her hands are!! Has she grown much since birth? I know babies grow quickly - how do you measure it?
How's Aitch getting on? Fully recovered?
I thought it was normal for babies to be jaundiced for up to a week after birth owing to bilirubin build up? Or have I got that wrong?
In some of the photos she looks a lot like you Matt! :D I'm not saying you're a big girl of course! :o
She really does look like Matt in some photos, I thought that. She has a lot of Aitch's features too.
You see, I always thought babies all looked the same, but I was very much wrong!
Knipples

A lot of babies are born slightly jaundiced, or develop it shortly after birth, it needs to be kept on top of though or it can mean re-admission to hospital to spend some time under a special lamp to break it down.
Aitch and Matt sound like they've been doing a sterling job putting her in the sun, and feeding her lots though, so hopefully its all gone. She certainly looks a lot pinker. Well done Mummy and Daddy :)
I was lucky enough to meet the gorgeous girlie today. I'd forgotten how tiny newborns are, she is completely perfect!!

I'm very aware that I haven't posted an update in a while although there have been regular pics going up on Facebook.
Amelie is doing well and has changed a lot over the last two weeks going from a floppy, non focusing, crying newborn to a much more alert 4 week old. A lot of things that people just asume babys are born doing have to be learned and now she will focus on someone when they talk to her and turn to hear who is speaking. She also has more control of her arms and her neck is becoming stronger all the time.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs069.ash2/36837_421796436355_623516355_5386034_8135713_n.jpg
She usually sleeps when we do and will go 4-5 hours in the night without needing a feed which is pretty good at this stage and when it happens we get a reasonable amount of rest although sometimes she just doesn't want to settle and last night Heather was up with her till three AM.
I'm back at work today for the first time in a month and it has been a real blow to leave her this morning and just knowing I can't devote all my time and energy to her and knowing Heather is on her own without me to at least hold Amelie whilst she gets on with things, but I know she'll do a great job without me (it won't be that different to me being there, just a lot less mess).

Hehe !! How much dribble !! ;D
I still can't work out who she looks like as she looks so much like both of you!
I must admit that I have been subject to feeling completely oblivious when people talk about their beautiful/cute/gorgeous babies - sometimes they are really unfortunate looking or simply look like 'a baby' to me.
HOWEVER, Amelie has to be one of the cutest, most adorable babies I have ever seen! Her range of expressions and obvious emotions are so entertaining, and I think your capabilities with the camera are not to go unrecognised- you have some truly wonderful photographs that will tell a superb and priceless story. :)
All brocolli will rue the day Amelie joined the earth! ;D
She is a truly stunning baby and has a wonderful personality to match. I fell in love with her instantly, such a happy, curious, old soul.
If I could be sure that any babba I would have would be just like her (without the obvious weirdness associated with that statement :p) I would reconsider my position on babies!
I don't do dribble though *gag*
