View Full Version : Confession time
My name is David and I'm an elitist :(
It all started when people I know outside of the internet started using internet terms, then they joined facebook and now they are all raving about twitter as they have just found it.
This is just a small portion of stuff and I feel like such a douche when I realise that they are a few years behind everything and when they find out about things they get all excited and I want to take the urine out of them.
I was talking to my sister yesterday and told her that the internet should be for internet people only.
I don't think there is a way back for me :(
Thats ok. Ive been known to say LOL out loud.
I sympathise Wossi. I'm the same. So many people saying so many things that just make me want to strangle them.

So you 'LOLOL'? ;D
My name is Jon and I am an elitist :(
I have a terrible superiority complex which I struggle with day to day. It's not like I'm better than everyone else either, I'm probably much worse ;D
Heh. I got a link to a site from a mate this morning. All I could think was "Seriously? Dear lord thats days old. DAYS OLD!!! Did you forget who I am? Damn it man!" So I just said "Yer its good :)" He works in IT too. You would think he'd be faster but nooo.

My Dad says OMG. He's 58 this year, it's so embarrassing. He does this whole big pantomime dame performance when he says it as well.
Why doesn't that surprise me? ;D
My sister-in-law now uses lol as a punctuation mark ::/:

yeah but does he say Oh. Em. Gee. Like Rosie bloody Webster from Corrie? If so I may have to tickle him when I see him ;)
I don't know if I'm just getting more jaded but people at work who log IT calls seem to either be becoming more lazy or just plain stupider. Is that elitist? Do I have a right to get angry that people complain about lost emails when they can't click on a cross to expand the subfolders? I truly can't tell if I'm just getting tired of dealing with issues that are second nature to me to 'solve', or if others are just not putting enough effort in to solve it themselves. Either way, the knowledge gap is increasing interminably, and I'm more stressed at work than I've ever been.
I get it too. I've lost count of the number of times that people have asked me to double-check I've fixed something on a site for me to say "CTRL + F5"... "Oh yeah that's fixed it, thanks Karl".
Someone asked in the office what LOL stood for. Someone said 'lots of love'. I was so elitist I couldn't even be bothered to correct it, I just had a rather long rant in my head which consisted mainly of 'DIE INTERNET AMATEUR!' on repeat.
