As a child and as an adult...
Child
You mother may not always be right, but she is never wrong - My father
Adult
If you are finding it difficult to maintain eye contact with someone then look at the end of their nose. Unless you are very close the other person will have no idea - My boss (amazing just how useful this tactic is)
Child - "Don't put that in there!" (I was trying to feed a metal coat hanger into a wall socket)
Adult - "Honey, I'm always right." (My wife trying to convince me of this fact, I'm still learning)

Child: "Always look after your little sister" (my Dad, although this same advice has got me in lots of trouble too ;D )
Adult: "Don't be loyal to a company if they're not loyal to you" (my Mum, when I got in trouble for doing the right thing instead of looking after my own interests - taken a lot of stress out of work)
Child: Don't talk to strangers. I took this a bit too literally and when I wandered a little way from home I refused to speak with the local Village Bobby when he tried to get me back home!
Adult: Never assume.
My advice to everyone: Don't take life to seriously, it sure as hell doesn't take you seriously.
Good things come to those who wait.
Adult: Never assume.
It makes an 'ass out of u & me' :p
Good things come to those who wait.
I really hope so.

It makes an 'ass out of u & me' :p
...and is also the mother of all ****-ups!
Child: "Never pick your nose whilst playing with super glue"
Adult: "Never pick your nose whilst playing with super glue"
;)
Heh I dunno, so much advice has been given to me in my life which has all been special and useful n someways. Best bit of advice I guess would be to live like today's your last day. I go by that a lot nowadays... makes me appreciate life and it's little joys and tribulations a bit more :)
Child: "When you don't know what to do, follow your heart"
Adult: "If you get given the choice, always go for adventure, it's something no-one can take from you"
Child "remember these 3 words and you will never be short of money - stick em up" :p
I have not reached adult hood yet
Child: "Listen to when your parents tell you not to talk to strangers, there's a reason for it"
Adult: "Don't regret anything, just learn from your experiences"
