Masterchef is back! :D

Anybody watch the first episode last night? :)

I'm not sure if they've edited for the first episode spectaculaire, but the standard seems quite high - notably more so than some of the 'professionals' on the sister-series!

It will be really interesting to see how these people progress - some of the quick shots at plates on the intro sequence looked stunning! :D

Glad Terry went through despite the fact he's missing part of his thumb :p

Still think the Sicilian shouldn't have gone out first

Already stopped watching this as Terry made it through 2 rounds despite being a scruffy, dirty and clumsy chef. Disgraceful.

yep been watching it.

What's that Indian bread called, the one they made into a upside down cone. Seen it on a fair few cooking programs recently and it looks yumtstic. with some of the fillings they've made.

Found them, called dosa
A very popular Indian dish is the Dosa; Mainly a South Indian Dough food, It is popular all over India.It is similar to the pancake. Pronounced as Dosai and Dosay, it is another Indian fried bread recipe you want to try again and again, From the famous Masala Dosa to the lesser known Adai, there are lots of varieties to choose from

* 1 cup plain rice
* 1 cup parboiled rice
* 1/4 cup white urad dal
* 1/2 tsp. methi (fenugreek) seeds
* 1 /2 tsp soda bi carbonate
* 1/2 cup curds
* 10-12 tsps. ghee or oil as preferred
* water for grinding

Wash the rices and dal together. Add plenty of water and methi seeds. Allow to soak for 7-8 hours or overnight. Rewash the rice by draining the water 2-3 times. Grind to a paste. Rawa -like grains should be felt in the batter. Add soda bicarb and salt and mix well. Keep aside in a warm place for 8-10 hours. Beat the curds well.

Add to the batter, add more water if required. The consistency of the batter should be thick enough to thickly coat on a spoon when dipped. Heat the iron griddle or non-stick tawa well. Pour a spoonful of batter in the centre, spread with the back of the spoon to a thin round. Pour a tsp. of ghee or oil over it. Remove with spatula when crisp. Serve hot with chutney and / or sambar.

So want to try them, they look awesome, especially the filled ones.
