Finally!!! :D
Good choice
Good car, gorgeous, and it's just, lovely. Though an Alfa should be petrol :p However, enjoy it! :D
I really wanted to love the 1750TBi but... its just insanity itself on fuel (less than 30mpg on a run!), the BIK value is crazy being a petrol and, well, overall it just didnt seem to make any sense :(
Does sound really nice for a 4cyl turbo though :D
I like 'em, been for a drive in one. Enjoy it! :D

Leasing I assume? Very nice car and will be different from the usual BMW, Audi crowd

For a company car you'd be daft not to go for a Dr Diesel these days
Yeah, that's why I went for the Honda Civic 2.2 Diesel - didn't have an Alfa option. :( Any my paygrade isn't high enough for an audi or bmw! :p
Had they not brought out the 2.0 I'd have been forced to go for something else I think... the 2.4 5-pot diesel would hav been a distant option but even on that, the BIK is ridiculous :(
I had narrowed my choice down to this or the Audi TT but chose the Alfa as its something I just had to do!
A diesel Alfa
I love the Alfa bit but ...........................:lipsrsealed:
Then again it does look gorgeous

I dream of 30mpg
did some round town blasting yesterday, only about 10 miles but was horrified when I looked at trip computer
you ready for this
9.2mpg :'(
Well you shouldn't be blasting around in town now should you?! :p
9.2mpg :'(

The best I've ever done is get our civic (the 2.2 diesel) from 60 to mid 30s with some reyt good abuse :D

YAY! An Alfa. *and a pretty one too*
Boo! Fuel made from Satans wee.
I did expect the fuel type to raise a few comments, but these days for the company car driver it really is the only choice.
The 3.2 V6 Q4 Brera would be the ideal choice of the range, they dont even cost that much (still less than I could have leased a 320D for!) but the BIK rate is just crazy, before you even get to the RIDICULOUS fuel consumption!

The 2.4 5 pot is one of the worst engines I've had the misfortune to drive. I had a 2.4JTD Spider when my R32 was off being fixed and I absolutely hated it.
Reliable it wasn't either what with the oil pump having had to be replaced. it only had 4000 on the clock when I gave it back.
Good call on the 159, I think it's a stunning looking car.
Nice one Drz, really liking the look of that :)

Moi ? :p
About average for my Saab ;D
But at least I can get my key out of the ignition ( or find where the ignition is )
as many times as I work this out in a Saab I still forget :p
haha what on earth do you drive?
Porsche Cayman S
Though I borrowed the missus' TT recently and only got 17mpg in town :D
What is BIK in plain english?

Benefit in Kind
i.e. company car tax liabilty

It's nowhere near your kneecap would end up in a crash (apparently that's why they do it) :p

Indeed.
It is based on the CO2 output of the car, +3% if it is a Diesel, and is expressed as a percentage. You then take the RRP of the car including VAT and delivery, on the day before it is delivered (not ordered!) and work out the Benefit In Kind value. You then pay tax on that at your tax rate.
So if you had a £30,000 car that had a 25% BIK rate, as a 40% taxpayer you would have to pay £3000 per year in tax, or £250 a month.
I get really annoyed at the company car tax system. I have a work van, that I don't use for personal use. I pay no tax whatsoever on it (if you do use it for personal there is a fixed £3k tax on it, plus fuel benefit tax).
I was offered a company car instead, but having spoken to the tax people, even if I didn't use it for personal use at all, because a car is more likely to be used for personal than a van, there is no way of NOT paying the tax on it  so I declined the car.

That is absolutely not true! Your company will declare the car as for personal use or not when it comes to the VAT return, and that forms the basis on which you may or may not pay the tax. Your company mileage will be recorded if you have a fuel card as well, so thats even more evidence. Your P11D form at the end of the year should reflect this also.
Well that's what revenue and customs bloke told me
Your company will declare the car as for personal use or not when it comes to the VAT return
Really? I wouldn't have thought company car tax had anything to do with a VAT return.
They get 50% of the VAT back if it is for personal use as well as business mileage, 100% back if it is solely for business use, so that will be declared to HMRC.
I get to use my company car for personal use. It's my car to use as I see fit. I'll be paying around £80 a month for it.
