You IT geeks probably think I am a noob of all kinds and what I have done is the most simplestic of tasks :p but I am proud nonetheless.
Bascially we have been building 3 new sites. I have been testing and working on these. My new manager goes on holiday and sends me 3 emails to send to the 3 different DNS providers to switch the old sites over to the new sites. Simples right?
Nope.
Some of the details were wrong in his email. I then had to hunt down who the DNS providers were for the current sites and get the login details/get them changed. Not easy as they are being hosted with different people (some not in the original email).
Then obviously I had to chase them all to get this done. Take down one of the old sites which was on a .net domain and make the new one live on the .com domain (both domains were with different providers).
Then one of them wasn't able to go live because they didn't have a general email address. Fine I thought - speak to IT. No. They use an outsourced IT company (same company which hosts the website). Fine thats all set up.
Then I was told none of them could go live without the quarterly maintenance costs being approved first. No one is coming back to me about this. Anyway, my Chairman who has been chasing me all week to get these live approved for them to go live.
The companys currently don't know that they are live :/ have been trying to get hold of them to now avail.
ANYWAY! Most of the week I haven't known wtf I have been doing but seem to have (almost) sorted it. First time in a long while I actually feel like I have achieved something.
I have felt like Sherlock Holmes all week.
Do we have a thread for achievements? If not post yours here :D

Well I for one didn't understand any of it. Therefore you're brainier than me...

(neither did anyone else by the way, I'm just the only one who can admit it so ner :D)
woot \o/
obviously no one has acheived anything this week.... (this must be a lie surely?!)

I can categorically say I am going to have to write this week off because I've achieved nothing. It has been most unproductive :(
My teaching of 8 year olds was awesome! I overheard a primary teacher whispering "this guy is really good" to a student teacher we have, whilst I was talking about supermassive blackholes and the discovery of helium to gawping kids.
It was only a little thing, but it gave me a confidence boost :D
The primary school sent us a email praising the excellence of the physics department <adjusts tie>

I managed to sweet talk the council into giving our project a card so we can take the kids swimming for free (the kids get to go, but it costs us £4 a pop) I smiled sweetly at the lady and we now have one. It might only save us a few quid a month but that money can be spent elsewhere.

Watched movies, listened to a lot of music and drunk a lot of coffee for me.
It's about average on the week rating system.
I've been fighting with DKMS and linux all week, trying to get DKMS to automagically compile in kernel modules necessary to make ipset work.
Alongside that fighting with SuSE 10 SP1 to make it install on a server that is far too modern, and fighting weird code with nasty mysql queries in it.
Fun fun fun.
I didn't achieve as much as I would have liked to.
Kept up with my To Do list just about and got a fair few articles and reviews written despite having some huge sleep problems for over a week now.
I'd have liked to have got more done though. It's made next week a lot busier than I wanted.
I haven't achieved much per se but I'm feeling hugely positive and have lots to look forward to. Sold my pony today, that's a big weight gone from my shoulders. Been given a huge boost at work and will be running shift for the next 3 weeks, possibly more. Found a great place to live fingers crossed, had a lovely day with the girls and MtE at crufts today. In a good place :)
I've done lots but actually achieved very little this week. Most frustrating.

Me likes this :)
I've managed to speak to lots of very annoying, demanding customers this week and I haven't sworn or shouted at any of them :D

If I took a step back I might discover I've achieved more than I think I have, but this is very much how I feel. I've worked most evenings this week, but not really seemed to get anywhere.
I've been fighting... all week,
Fun fun fun.
Brits abroad eh
I completed my "Introduction to Diversity" on-line training today.
I'm 78% non-racist/genderist/religionist/sexual-orientationist.

I remembered two friends birthdays today and texted them a 'Happy birthday' on the actual day of their actual birthday.
I know this is second nature to the girls but I'm a bloke and therefore this counts as an achievement. I also remembered to get my Mum a nice plant for Mothers Day.

Bugger!
I had a 'genius moment' with regard to how to use one of our systems in a way thats...not expected ;) Love it when the 'guru' of the systems turns to me and goes, "you may be on to something there, didnt think of using it that way"
Now I just need to find out if we can actually deliver it as I think we can....have to love through the back door proof of concepts (especially when they are top secret and there is already a development project running to do the same thing....my solution is both quicker and MUCH cheaper)
I've just returned from a gallery that's exhibiting 6 of my photos along with my friends work. Only got the call on Wednesday night after returning from another gallery exhibiting my gf's photo. Fun week :D
I can't remember much of this week! Probably means it was all bad ;D

I've got to do that at some point as part of my mandatory training at work. Fun.

Which pony? Glad to hear things are positive :)
I've managed to speak to lots of very annoying, demanding customers this week and I haven't sworn or shouted at any of them :D
Surely you don't usually swear at any of them usually? lol can't see it myself :)

Does setting new PB's on Forza 3 count as an achievement ? :o
Or playing BF2 just once for 2 rounds & getting Gold in both rounds ?
I do Love my Life. ;D
Just remembered I played Richard Burns Rally yesterday for the first time in ages & won the GB rally.
RBR Never stops amazing me.
Of course it does! :D

I have achieeevveed......GETTING A NEW JOB! :D
I finished Alien vs. Predator last night.
Right during the last boss fight I finally realised I had a shoulder-mounted cannon. No idea where it came from - probably had it all along!
... A hot air balloon ride!
/me is jealous
My biggest most recent acheivement was growing my nails for the wedding. I didn't think I could do it but they did look nice. All gone now though!
I mastered making the humble yorkshire pud yesterday :D Rose very nicely and tasted delicious :D
And today I managed to balance on my dodgy foot for 12 seconds. A new record :D

That's an achievement in itself :DI astound even myself sometimes, though maybe next time, less spice :(
Martial arts Lozza? :D What discipline? ...and how might you have gone about achieving two different kyu within what I assume was a single grading? :)
Ah that's great - I undertook a similar path when I moved disciplines :)
What kickboxing is it? I studied Wu Shu Ky (Bu Jitsu Ryu) but thought yours must be something quite different as yellow and purple belts were staggeringly different grades in my dojo :D
Well done to you anyway! Gradings are fantastic events! :D
Wow well done Lozza. :D
*makes mental note not to mess with her*
