Just seen the video review of this and it looks a blast. Would I need to play the first 2 in order to appreciate this one?

I would certainly say so. Back story galore! Also some epic set pieces/boss battles.

I have the GoW Collection (1+2 with rescaled gfx...) for PS3 if you want to borrow it :)

I can't wait for this, I loved the first two and this just looks epic. My review copy will hopefully be with me tomorrow or Thursday so I should have it finished by the weekend :)

Only good thing about supermarket work :)

Must admit that I'm tempted to buy it but I would prefer to get the GoW Collection first. Is that out in the UK now?

Not that I know of. Think it's bundled in with the GoW3 Pandoras Box collection thing.

Just import it from the US, it's region free so it works perfectly fine.

I'm still waiting to borrow the Collection from a certain someone :p, so I won't be playing the third until I've had a chance to finish off the second.

Nope. Didn't know Davey had it.
It was supposed to be Psymonkee, but I guess he forgot.

I've played 5 minutes of the demo....

It was alright...

It's the only 5 minutes of GoW I've ever played though and I had no idea what to expect...

Looked nice an ' all...

I really recommend you pick up the GoW collection then, they are without doubt all-time classic games and really deserve a play through.

I didn't forget :p You seem quite content with BFBC2 though :)

I'll see it finds it's way to you later :)

That's just wrong then!
Only playing BFBC2 as my MP game.

The first hour on this game is just immense! Straight in at the deep end!

Now should I buy this God Of War Trilogy Box Set thingie.
How hard is the games? Are their multiple settings? How do the first 2 games hold up?
Is it mainly just hack & slash?

I'm not someone who really gets on with Ninja Gaiden/DMC games (they bore me after an hour or so); how would I get on with these?

How do they hold up? Well from my experience so far, you can tell it's not next-gen but still looks good.

Is it mainly just hack & slash? Yes

Go for the collection first, you will really want to play the first two games (they are brilliant.)
They don't have the complexity of Bayonetta, but the different weapons, story, immersion and animations more than make up for it.

Do it

Story is so much cooler/more satisfying than NG :D

Just finished it, clocked in at a little over 9 hours on Normal difficulty. Awesome game, only let down by a slightly dodgy camera, no health bar for bosses, and a slightly weak finish to the story. Overall though it was simply superb, helped by my love for Greek Mythology. Will definitely be going through it again at some point :)

Psymonkee

Bosses don't need health bars! Just circles floating over their heads is all I need :D

I'm going through it again shortly having not played for nearly a week.

Also Davey:

Did you watch after the credits? Is the carving on the ground meant to be an Eagle (Zeus) or a Phoenix?

Psy:

It actually looked more like a Dove to me, suggesting peace and hope. Kratos gave hope to the world after all, so perhaps that's what it was meant to symbolise. Of course, the fact we never see Kratos die could suggest that if it is a Phoenix, we'll see a 4th game at some point

Played this very briefly after renting it from work then running out of time to actually play it for any length

I like it :) Although strangely enough it made me more tempted to get the GoW Collection next month rather than buy 3 ;D But that's probably me being cheap as I've got plenty to play at the moment.

Jen, have you played GoW 1 and 2 before? If you haven't, I'd definitely recommend getting them and playing through them first. Not only are they exceptional games, but the story is great and really sets the 3rd one up nicely :)

Played the first one :) Can't remember much about it though so probably a good idea to play it again. Love the mythology aspect.

I'll either buy it or rent it at some point I think :)
