What's the biggest thing you can take on a bus? I'm currently without horseless chariot. I need to visit a scrapyard at very short notice (tomorrow) and i want to bring a rear bumper (at least) home, I don't think i'll be getting friends help, so i was wondering if the worst happens and i can't get a lift home would a bus driver let me on with a rear bumper ;D? I'd pay for a seat for the bumper and it can sit out the way unobtrusively and not block fire exits etc if need be ;D?
What are my chances?
Cheese / Socks / Eskimos - Yes.
Bombs / Egg Sandwiches / Lepers - No.
I couldn't find anything specifically on bumpers though I'm afraid :(

I found some old law saying no fish ;D But other than that i came up short as well :(
It takes up less room than a pram, and bus drivers let people faff about with them on buses - I don't think you;d have a problem.

Also if it is the middle of the day then there should be lots of room on the bus so shouldn't be a problem. People carry guitars etc on busses and they are a similar(ish) size to a bumper.
won't be a matter of laws it'll be down to company policy and probably more importantly the drivers discretion. You won't know until you try and they either let you on or they don't

Ok, well we'll see what happens if i'm lucky i won't even be trying i'll be getting a bus there and a friend to pick me up later on. I just wondered in case the worst happened, could be funny though :)
Why don't you ring the bus company and explain your predicament? They might be able to tell you yes or no over the phone before you go.
Either way, one you've got it home, pics or it didn't happen.
Can't see a problem. I got on with a home made mortar once and they said nothing, even when I accidentally set it off and fired a can of Coke out of it. Might be different these days but it's a car bumper, not a 4-man inflatable dinghy :)
Theres the law of physics which will prevent you bringing a tug boat on board. Annoying I know but ye canny change the laws of physics.
Cheese - Yes.
Actually, you can't take Limburger cheese on public transport in Germany. If you've ever smelled it you'll understand why.
If it's oily/rusty/otherwise messy, then no (driver will have to clean up after you). If it's clean, you can keep it under control and it isn't likely to be a danger to other passengers then give it a shot.

Ha! I remember this from German class in High School, with rye bread. It's smelly stuff alright!
...if you can keep it under control

Phone the bus carrier and speak to them, tell them about it and they'll let you know there and then on the phone whether you can or can't get on there. Saves you looking like a tool, stood there with a bumper and no bus to travel on.
a 4-man inflatable dinghy :)
So for your next challenge......

Woop, leaving shortly i haven't rang because frankly i guess i'm not that bothered, its not the end of the world and i can convince someone to come pick me up if i can't get on a bus i'm sure, there are enough people with cars frankly! More importantly i'm not too sure how the bumper removes, but i can't see it being that difficult ;D?

Offside wing was a PAIN IN THE ASS to remove, so as it stands i've taken bumpers bonnet front grille center console and loads of other little bits piled them nicely next to the car and i'm going back tomorrow to finish the the wing then i'll leave. its been a GOOD day though! Gruby and dirty and know that my car will have nice looking/working parts again :)

Hiiiiya, if its possible yeah. I'm calling on other guys first, guys i know they won't mind me faffing with their car. But dissertations are not helping me right now! Basically i'm gonna get the bus out the loanhead finish off the little bit of work i've got fairly early i imagine like 10/11 if i really get up in time and get my ass to the bus station. Bus now i've got a bigger challenge since i've got a rear bumper, a bonnet, an offside front wing and other little bits a bobs to fit somewhere so were now beyond the realms of a a bus back definitely ;D If you think you can fit all that in your car (i was thinking of trying to get it in and on a friends corsa so most cars are probs poss) then you should be able to help. But to save you serious hassle i will try and employ other friends first :p
I actually managed to get locked in the scrapyard today, now THAT was an experience ;D Like the elephants graveyard off The Lion King! Hahaha :)
