Anyone done these before?

Basically a treasure hunt where you can search for Cache things in your local area.

Phil and I do it, although haven't done it for a while due to not being mobile. There are so many around, it's amazing :)

I tried this around ten years ago and there were hardly any around. There was one within a few miles of home which I spent ages trying to find but I failed. I've not looked for any since.

We just used my TomTom last time we did them. Wasn't straightforward but we managed. Will hopefully be a bit easier with Vix's iPhone.

Perhaps it wasn't quite ten years ago, I've just checked on geocaching.com and I joined on the 13th Jan 2001, well after the fiddle factor was turned off. I've been using GPS units since 1997 when I had a Garmin GPS II and it was a big bonus when the fiddle factor was removed as accuracy dropped from (IIRC) around 30m to typically just a few feet.

The problem was that the cache I was looking for was very well hidden in a large clump of bushes and I just couldn't find it there. I realised later that I knew the person who'd stashed it and he told me that he'd deliberately made it really difficult to find.

There are a handful close to me now, I shall have another go.

Cool! I am going to start doing it I think :) I think I have been reading too many Dan Brown novels recently - things like this really interesting me at the moment :)

I was the same when I came in here, so don't think it is age! :p

Didn't make any sense to me either until I read the website!
