Well the time has come to make a decision on a shiny new phone and I'm pretty much sold on the HTC Desire and am thus looking at pricing info, which is starting to appear.

The best deal for me appears to be from T-Mobile at present, who are offering the handset on an 18-month contract for £129 with 300mins & 300texts plus "unlimited" internet for only £20 a month (I'd rather pay more up front in exchange for a lower monthly tarrif).

The internet component of this also seems to be a bit more "relaxed" than the other networks with a 3GB fair use limit, after which they say they'll still let you use the web & email but will just restrict downloading and streaming etc.

My question is, how good are T-Mobile? I've always considered them to be a somewhat "second class" network compared to the likes of Voda/O2/Orange but is this unfair? What experience have people here had with them in general and, in particular, their 3G coverage and performance?

Ta for any info :)

Don't they piggy-back on O2 anyway?

Not sure, I've read conflicting reports about which networks they share with.

Just asked the guys around here, I may have been confusing them with 3.

I got back 'No-one ever complains about O2 at my gaff, but T-Mobile are f***ing sh*t'. This was a general shared feeling amongst the techies.

Hmm, doesn't bode well :(

I'd stick with t-mobile over o2 any day :p o2 have more coverage so to speak, but always had a cheap shoddy network before the iPhone and now and cheap shoddy and overcrowded network :p

T-mobile are merging with orange, and rightly as Gilly said have a deal to share masts with 3, so i'd place my bets quite firmly on them for the future, i'll be moving back asap as i've said :)

I used t-mobile for a few years finishing on october last year, and i now miss them muchly being stuck with o2 until october this year! :(

Never had a problem with them - general reception round here is rubbish on most networks so that's probably why I don't notice :p

3G with 3.... 2G soon to be with Orange, which when it happens will make us pretty god damn hard to get anywhere near tbh

Just got it now. It's very impressive for my first smart phone. Certainly a step up from the hero my mates have
