Just noticed this, am I the only one that is oblivious to everything. How long has it been up their?
I buy loads of stuff from there, so will be using this from now on. How much do you actually make. I bet you need 10's of thousands of sales to pay for this place.

It hasn't been up there long, I suspect Jamie will put up a thread soon to explain how it all works but essentially the board gets a little commision on every sale and it shouldn't effect the prices you pay in anyway, so if you are going to make a purchase anyway it will help us out if you use the BD gateway :)

There is a forum announcement :)

It's been there for just under a week I think and every little helps :)

Glaucus
17-05-2010, 11:43
yeah, but who notices them. It's like sticky threads. Never noticed.

Stan_Lite

yeah, but who notices them.

o/ I do.

Haly
17-05-2010, 12:07
o/ I do.

Me too :D Certainly on a smaller forum like this where I figure they're more relevant to me.

I assume this will work fine even when using Amazon vouchers? Got a few on my account at the moment so will make sure to go through the BD link when I do :)

I never noticed it :o although the last thing I bought through amazon I returned and got a full refund anyway!

Not read the announcement yet, but it's in normal type not bold as though I have???

Desmo

It's working \o/

I bought something through it the day before yesterday :)

Belmit
20-05-2010, 13:10
Is it just a fixed referral fee or linked to the price of the item?

Desmo
20-05-2010, 14:39
Linked to the price as a percentage.

Desmo
20-05-2010, 14:40

Thought it might be you :p

It doesn't show any other details but does show the product.

It doesn't show any other details but does show the product.

Excellent.

I can still buy ' Bangkok Bukkake Babes Glass Coffee Table Shatfest ' with complete anonymity then.

Buy that and you get ' Ooh, Where's Me Kitkat ' for half price.

Desmo
20-05-2010, 15:19
You could try....but I KNOW there'd only be one person on here who would buy that.

Thanks for posting this, I didn't notice the sticky before. :o

Just bought a bunch of CDs, hope it worked ok!

Will check it out later :)
I'm thinking we need the announcements in a different colour :D

No idea. Why don't you order £5k worth of goods and we can test it.
When you see the obscure/scary engineering books flooding through you'll know it's me ;)
Hehehehe, along with books about exploding things and old cars.

Glaucus
24-05-2010, 10:29
is there no wya you can add sort by price and search without selecting a catogry.

Desmo
24-05-2010, 10:48
Will check the options, although I don't think I can. I've found it best to look for the product on the main Amazon site and then search for it on the BD shop and buy through there. It should track the cookie fine.

Nutcase
02-06-2010, 14:33
That's what I just did. £110 spent :) Not sure what that gives but hopefully useful :)

Desmo
02-06-2010, 15:51
Can't see anything tracking for that amount at the moment but not sure when it all updates.

I've found out that they cap each referral at £7 which is about £140+ spend.

Glaucus
02-06-2010, 16:35
Not much but it all helps.
Iphone car stuff and a cook book.

So it's about 5% then, do you get commission on teh postage as well. or just item value.

Desmo
02-06-2010, 16:50
Just item value as far as I'm aware.

Desmo
02-06-2010, 17:10
Just noticed on the page that the tracking is only up until yesterday so I guess it updates overnight :)

semi-pro waster
02-06-2010, 18:12
There'll be a tiny amount of commission from my recent purchases hopefully although a fair few of the things I wanted weren't available except in the full store - the search engine doesn't seem happy to do its thing unless you give it a category to search in either which is a little bit odd.

Hopefully mine went through, spent about £20 last week.

Read this the other day, Amazon's not on any of the cashback referral sites so it's a pretty good choice.

Now that you're getting referral money, any chance you could fix the password resetting thing at all? :p:/

so how much have you made in the last few weeks and how much do these forums cost. If people keep it up, will you have enough?

Belmit
09-06-2010, 15:02
I have almost 30,000 Nectar points. That equates to a lot of Amazon vouchers. May have to use some soon!

Of all the orders despatched and referral money actually through, it's currently just under £19 but will be a bit more on current orders in the system. The forums are on shared hosting so hard to say a set cost but we also have the vb license to take in to account as well. Got no idea how much we'd get throughout the year, but if there is surplus after everything is covered then we'll probably chuck up a "vote for charity" thread or something similar :)

Desmo
09-06-2010, 15:12
Don't forget referral maxes out at around orders of £125 so split big order down in to smaller ones ;D

I'm only joking by the way. Don't inconvenience yourself :p

Desmo
09-06-2010, 15:17
Got it wrong, it's currently at £28.34 in total since starting. I was looking at just the last month before.

I got that email, but if I search on quidco, Amazon isn't listed

Desmo

Amazon are only doing voucher deals through Quidco so if you want to save £1 on orders over £4 on mp3's, knock yourself out :D

Glaucus

Have some more money,

so is this a success then and making a decent dent in the bills?

Desmo
13-08-2010, 10:43
Yeah, it's doing well so far :)

We'll easily cover what we had in previous donations and maybe pull in a little more. Once the hosting comes up again I'll tot up what we had in and with whatever is left over, maybe set up a poll to chose a charity.

I've tried to remember when I've been ordering as well, I doubt it's helped much but it's better than nothing. If it's near time for licence renewal and there isn't enough from this then do say, I'd be happy to chip in a bit. :)

Mark

I believe you have to add things only via the BD shop, which rules out lightning deals (at least as far as I'm aware). Pity, because I spent a similar amount.

Kitten
04-12-2012, 09:23
I went to the item via the BD shop with a referral url and it showed the current price, which was the reduced one. If you go directly to an item it says 'currently available on special offer' with the reduced price. So it *should* work, no?
