View Full Version : Can't make posts to a vB forum :/
For some strange reason I can't post new threads or reply to old ones on a vB forum.
I've no idea why, makes no sense at all. everything works apart from those two buttons to submit & preview! they just don't do anything!
I'm admin so have access to do everything I need but can't think what might be the problems.
Any ideas?
* Happens on my PC & my mac! Other users are posting without any problem though.
Oddly enough, I had this problem a few weeks ago with the BD forum, from Safari on my Macbook. It just seemed to suddenly start working, so I assumed it was a glitch with the forum...
yeah, its weird that its happening cross-platform, but I can't think what on the forum would cause the problem :/

Note: f=19 is a forum section I picked from the forum I suspect you're having problems with. :)
yeah, i can get to that page, but i cant publish anything. :/
What do you mean by that? Error? Timeout? Or just nothing?
literally nothing. I press either post or preview buttons and nothing happens, the browser simply doesn't do a thing. its really weird.
yeah, thats the annoying bit - people are posting stuff and I need to reply to it!
What about if you register a different user and try that? Even when you're an admin you can be explicitly denied access to do things and that'll overrule the allow all-ness that an admin account has.
i'll try and setup a new account.
just got this when i logged out;
Unable to add cookies, header already sent.
File: /home/marksweb/public_html/shuwarriors/forum/includes/class_dm_user.php(1941) : eval()'d code
Line: 10
and again on registration... errors all over this thing.
more errors on the start of the page;
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /home/marksweb/public_html/shuwarriors/forum/includes/class_dm_user.php(1941) : eval()'d code on line 10

Are you using vBulletin Bridge plugin? Sounds like an issue with that.
I did try and use the bridge at one point but I thought I'd removed it. Any tips on getting rid of it if it's still got code lying around...
I've noticed a few odd things, like the old domain on a few files when I run this test;
http://tools.pingdom.com/?url=shuwarriors.net/forum&treeview=0&column=objectID&order=1&type=0&save=true
Oh, and setting up a new account allowed me to post. I'll have to try and look at the permissions on my account I guess. Having said that, my account is protected in the config... surely that means it can't really encounter any issues :/

It might be that vB Bridge mucked up some code and/or permissions. Maybe replacing the files in the error messages with the originals might help?
i.e. home/marksweb/public_html/shuwarriors/forum/includes/class_dm_user.php
edit: make sure you rename it to class_dm_user.php instead of overwriting it with the new file!! Just for backup!
I uploaded a fresh copy of that class file and it didn't fix it :(
it seems to have a problem with the line;
($hook = vBulletinHook::fetch_hook('userdata_postsave')) ? eval($hook) : false;
