View Full Version : Amazing Ghost Towns
Found this elsewhere and thought I'd share. Some of these places are incredible, just think about the things that have happened here and now nothing happens at all. It's quite eerie.

Reminds me of Redruth!
Like the Taiwanese one the best. Also the Japanese one - what would you think if you suddenly came across that while out sailing?
Varosha, Famagusta, Cyprus is a very eerie sight. Look in one direction and you have a lovely white sandy beach leading into the clear blue Mediterranean Sea but look behind you and you see hotels with blown up lift shafts, bullet holes and all sorts.
I've got some pictures (taken by Mel and Kate I believe) from when we were in Cyprus in 2008, I'll dig a few out.

Varosha, Famagusta, Cyprus
It wasn't as impressive in the dark but during the daylight very eerie
My Dad lived in Famagusta pre-invasion- very interesting seeing comparative photos :)
p.s. Did anyone look at the Chernoble set and instantly think Modern Warfare ?
Just me then :p
that's where most people will know pypriat from thesedays. i like the one outside hong kong best, kinda like the idea of a few blocks of lawlessness.

The Italian one Craco, looks so beautiful in that shot of the hillside. Would love to go and explore places like some of those shown.

I like ghost towns, there's one in India where legend has it, bad luck and misfortune would fall onto anybody who lived there. Apparently years ago a palace was being built while a holy man was err, doing his stuff nearby. He said to the builders that should what they're doing cause a shadow to fall onto him he'd produce a curse. To this day, everybody is banned from entering the town by night. Mwahahahahaha..zz...
