I feel I shall have to watch it in both 2D and 3D, just to be sure :D
Might have to watch one of the Harry Potter movies at some point. Have read all the books :)
Have to say the first couple of movies are pretty poor, they get gradually better from that point on though.

Corrected it for you :)
I absolutely love Harry Potter and I can not wait for this one to come out. I haven't watched the trailer but I don't want to :)

This could be the first film to really turn people off 3D because people already know what Harry Potter looks like, the 3D will really have to be something special.

I saw the new Shrek in 3D as the local cineworld has had digital displays in and I really think it helps pull you into the story.
Plus I have an unlimited card so 3D films only cost me £1.50 :D
New (final?) trailer out 6pm PST yesterday: http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/harrypotterandthedeathlyhallows/index.html (very good quality).
Warner Bros. Pictures just announced that the studio will not be releasing*Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 in 3D:
Official Press Release:
Warner Bros Pictures has made the decision to release “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1″ in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate “Harry Potter” experience.
Producer David Heyman said, “For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling’s books as we have adapted them to the screen, and this decision reflects that commitment.”
Director David Yates continued, “This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first.”
As scheduled, on July 15, 2011, we will deliver to conventional and IMAX theaters our final*instalment*of the film franchise, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” in both 2D and 3D formats.
Yay!

Hurrah! :D
Isn't this the one they delayed like 6 months anyway? What are they doing?!
Not sure about this 3D lark yet, having to wear two pairs of glasses for 2-2.5h might be a pain?
No, it was the previous one which was delayed.
No, it was the previous one which was delayed.
Oh yeah sorry, my bad!
Got this planned in now, going with my sister hopefully on the 19th depending it she is working 7-7 (either way round) as I'm home that weekend. Any idea when tickets will go on sale?
And mine! And mine! :D
Mine too hehehe
When's it out? 19th Nov?

:D
I'm going 21:30, hoping it'll be less busy by then. Sister just got her degree so am feeling generous and got two premium tickets, cost me £19.50 though! Better be good.
I'm not going to see this in 3D either
But....but...:'(

It's not been filmed in 3D it's just going to have the 3D tacked on! I'm happy with my 2D thank you very much :p
Another 2D vote right here! If the premiere isn't in 2D then it is most likely an 'add on' feature to increase sales after release rush peaks begin to decline :)
*waves opening night tickets around in excitement*

wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :D
I'm taking the family to Cineworld in Ipswich on Sunday morning to see it *excited* :D
I might go see it. It'll be the first one I've seen since the first, and the only one at the cinema.
3D is pointless. Everyone else will just have to see it how I do. :p
That was superb, the best of the Harry Potter films so far. I've heard critics saying that some of it dragged a bit but it didn't feel like that to me.
There were tears in my eyes at the beginning when Hermione was erasing her parents memory of her and removing herself from the pictures.
Some good drama and some cracking comedy moments, the acting was much improved over previous films and Emma Watson seems to have tamed her eyebrows as well.
Can't wait for the next one and I really don't care about the lack of 3D. I'd rather the next one was released in 2D anyway.
Going on Saturday, going on Saturday, and I'm going to be a good girl and avoid the spoilers in here ;D
I did have opening night tickets, in the best seats Lincoln Odeon has to offer, but then I discovered that the money needed to pay for the tickets was not in the bank. I was not happy :(
Brilliant. It's clearly not a stand-alone film, nor is it a straight portrayal of the book, but it sets up the sequel brilliantly for film goers and and book fans equally. Smatterings of humour and a fair wedge of emotionally intense drama too - left me itching for July :)
"Engorgio...REDUCIO!!!!!" ;D ;D ;D
I enjoyed it although I didn't think it was the best.
Unlike the other films, there didn't seem to be any parts that weren't in the book, which I quite liked - although of course they had cut a few bits out!
Loved the comedy bits - the dancing and random comments.
I think this was a film that you really needed to read the book beforehand - Phil didn't 'get' a lot of it, he said things like 'they seemed to move around the country randomly' and he found it quite boring.
Just me found it a bit tedious then? I appreciate that it's basically just setting up the next film they seemed to forget to put a story into this one. I guess it's different if you've read the books but if you haven't there just seemed to be a whole lot of not much happening.
First time I've been to the cinema in ages (certainly since the current 3D fad kicked off) and it was disappointing to see the number of shots that were blatently only there for the 3D impact.

Like what ? :)
Right from the start, the way the camera pans through the WB logo is obviously tailored for 3D, there were several panning shots where there seemed to be trees deliberately placed in the very near foreground, and the most gratuitous one of all was the snake eating the camera. I'm sure there were more that I can't remember now. In retrospect they aren't *that* annoying but I'm not a fan of the 3D fad, I see it as a gimmick and don't like directors purposefully changing the way the films are shot just to pander to it. Such films risk looking dated very quickly once the novelty has worn off.

The WB logo is shot in the same manner for every film in the series, and although the Nagini scene was the one that jumped to my mind after reading your comment, I don't feel it would have been shot any different even if 3D was invented; action cut scenes are widespread and used throughout the film industry and have been for decades.
As for the general camera work, it is noticeable that David Yates' direction focusses on recreating the 'tone' of a book rather than the Columbus-we-must-not-do-anything-that-isn't-written-whatsoever approach, with which the harry/hermione dance scene wouldn't be present (one of the key uplift reliefs in my opinion). Removing SteadyCam and railed camerawork gives a much greater sense of experience for the screenplay, and although some may see this as a discomfort, I feel it strikes the right balance of Solemn vs Playful that JKR pens so well in the book.
So given that I haven't read the book, should I go?
Maybe Friday, if it doesn't snow and if work goes well and I get away early.

I absolutely loved it. Very glad I went to see it, even if it was my third attempt at going to see it. And what made it a brilliant experience was that the cinema brought in a White owl into the cinema just before the film started and brought it round for everyone to stroke! Brilliant.

Need to get my arse to see this.
You might want the rest of you to see it too. :p

Awwwwwww!!
I love things like that Tink; not quite as impressive as hedwig herself, but a lot of people were in costume when I saw it - really adds to the excitable atmosphere and overall experience :)
Mark - if you have seen all the previous films, then I don't see why you wouldn't understand it; it has been argued that non-fans might find it something of a long-haul, but if you didn't enjoy previous films then I don't see why you'd be going to film 7 anyway! :p
Marie - hillarious image of a pair of bumcheeks sat in a cinema seat surrounded by popcorn and cola ;D
I've only seen the first film (which I was OK with) and the last half hour of the last one (which was too dark - but that's probably my TV :)).
Then I'd look to do a bit of a film round up before going along - it would be like going to see The Return of the King without seeing the first two LOTR films :)

I watch the film on Wednesday at my local Odeon, and it was a great film.
Much darker, bit more gritty, more grown up than the other HP films.
Plus there was plenty of clues to what might be happening next !
I'm listening to the talking book at the moment and strangely got to the point where the film ended just before I saw the film, which was quite handy.
I've just realised something:
I wondered what the big deal was about the shot of Bellatrix's hair landing on Hermione - then realised they need to for the Polyjuice potion later.
But why do you think they haven't used the invisibility cloak yet? It seems important as it's part of the Hallows....

Finally got round to watching it last night. Twas good, the only thing that was slightly disappointing for me is the lack of "Aaaarrggghhhhh this isn't bloody fair, why is all this stuff happening" rage from Harry. I always imagined him getting a lot more cross when I read the book. Dan Radcliffe just seemed to bumble through it without any kind of madness decending on him. Heck even Ron got more angry than Harry did.
Am still looking forward to July. :)
So I decided to go see Part 2, having not seen Part 1. As it happened, it didn't matter. I'm sure it would have been even better had I seen more, but I knew enough to 'get' the story and found it all very enjoyable. :)
I just can't believe a cinema can justify charging nearly £4 for a drink, the ingredients for which cost pennies. What a joke - I'll try to remember to bring my own next time. :/

The bag costs more than the popcorn it contains....
I didn't have any popcorn, or any other sweets. The drink mugging was enough, thanks!
Went to go watch HP recently too. May have been an overindulgence of choccies resulting in a ridiculous sugar high but I spent most of the time giggling. For example - opening scene shows some rather ragged looking dementors floating around the school. I immediately lean over and say to hubby "friggen moths!". This has us and the line of Canadians behind us in fits of laughter. Not to mention the children at the end...
All in all a damned good movie. Now I can go read the books and criticize the movies horribly.
