iPod touch update to not latest version?

My touch is still on 2.1

I have an app i would like that requires 2.2.1

iTunes is only giving me the option to upgrade to 3.1.3 (at cost)

Is there an easy way to get the last version of 2 without paying for 3?

You can manually download it and then press ALT (or SHIFT on windows) when pressing the update button. This will allow you to find a firmware version on your PC to update to.

nvm,it seems updating to the latest iTunes now lets me choose 2.2.1 anyway
