Cannot decide at all, i do feel like 500Gb might just be enough, that's what i was running, (but its true you really do never have enough space i had about 10Gb spare at all times :p) but 750Gb in 9.5 form sounds deliciously large (but again i will just fill it with useless crap)...

Hybrid SSD? Thats a new one on me. I would say go for the faster drive. The hdd makes one hell of a difference on laptops. If you find you need extra space you can get 1tb external drives for not much :)

That is what i keep feeling, i'm really not sure how much i'll notice speed wise though, it "only" has a 4Gb SLC nand chip onboard, i would have hoped for 32Gb or more maybe? Its true i can archive my stuff to external drives but its always a pain in the ass, the stuff you want is never on your drive! ;D

The Hybrid SSD looks like a very interesting proposition. Agree with Zirax, you can pick up an external 1TB HDD for buttons nowadays if you find you need the extra space.

Personally for a laptop I'd be happy enough with a relatively small SSD that's only really big enough to run the OS and apps, then keep all the data on a NAS. But then I never really take my laptop out of the house so I've always got access to my LAN, might not be practical if you're away from home with it a lot.

Thats the problem, my laptops tend to get about a fair bit, and usually need music and film on them, i agree i can take a hard drive around with me, and i do, but it's just impractical sometimes... I am looking as SSD's though, they seem beautiful, but i don't think i could go less than 128Gb and the few i'm looking at in that region are already out my budget, nearer £250 compared to £100 with the hybrid... Shocking performance though!

The laptop inquestion does only have a dual core SU2300 though, so in the event of a blistering SSD i fear i might actually bottleneck in other areas ;D :p

This puts the momentus into perspective! I think i'll be going for that instead of a smaller SSD, i do need the space more than the bleeding edge performance. I like to have all my music on my laptop as well, and the collection alone is over 100Gb's which leaves me little room to play with otherwise :)

I'm like you Alex. I like to have everything on the internal hard drive. The whole point of a laptop/netbook, if you're traveling, is that it's small and light and easy to carry around. If you have to have a separate external drive to lug around all your media, it defeats the purpose somewhat.

One of the first things I did when I got my NC10 was to replace the 160GB HDD with a 500GB one. I now have about 130GB space left without my movies (which fill a portable 500GB drive). I'm seriously considering upgrading again to at least 750GB - more likely 1TB.

I agree, but i've gone with the 500gb momentus, i'll trim what i need, lets be honest i should be able to get by with 500gb, but it looks SUPER fast for what it is as well :) Best of both!....

Keep an eye on the reallocated sector count for the first few weeks. They sometimes go a bit potty. Mine hit 83 but that's possibly because I lost my grip on the laptop opening it while in use, but I've heard reports they'll also sometimes do it for no reason (and then fail completely).

I could easily get by with 500GB by trimming stuff but the way I look at it is, if there's a drive with sufficient capacity and I can afford it, why not carry everything around with me? Speed of access is less important to me so the higher capacity drive would suit me better.
