Hey guys I want to get the home-brew on the go again and I really want to make some root beer.
But having great difficulty find some of the ingredients in the UK. I can find extracts, but I ideally I want the root/bark itself

Sarsaparilla
Sassafras
licorice
Wintergreen leaves

Now I can find sassafras and licorice but only from pagan type shops (not sure if it's edible standard, although I could ask).
Anyone know where I may find these or have better google-fu than I do.

Also who does yahoo and google not just show uk sites any more. Even with it clicked it still shows loads of American sites.

I'm sorry, I have no idea how to answer those questions...but I want some when you've made it. I HEART root beer.

Humm reading up I better find a more modern recipe it seems Sassafras has been banned for consumption, due to carcinogenic properties.

Seems wintergreen and vanilla is modern root beer

Edit - it seems you can get artificial Sassafras flavorings.

I have no idea where to find your ingredients but the Google thing bugs the hell out of me. You click the UK results button and 5 out of the top 6 results are American. Get a ****ing grip Google

I'll post you some.

Ocuk bods have found me everything I need. But stupid landlords have chased next months rent cheque making me massively overdrawn, so until that's sorted out I can't afford anything.

Grrrrrr and they are going to get a bill for the stupid bank charges
