View Full Version : Mousemat..... gah.
For years I've used an Icemat which is fantastic, I love the feel and overall the mat is fantastic.
I just bought a laser mouse. 99% of the time it doesn't work with the icemat. Sometimes I sort of manage to reset it and it works but if I turn the mouse off and on, or swap the batteries, it just stops moving.
What other good mousemats are available that feel and work as well as the icemat? I really don't like just using the desk.
I believe Steelpad is the other favourite (latest one is supposed to work with laser mice), unless Icemat have updated theirs.
Makes note not to buy a laser mouse.

Sorted. :D
Beautiful with my MX1000

Yeah, that'll work too. Enough texture for a mouse to pick up there.

Bling! Custom made granite mousemat my friend made for me at work :D
The laser mouse doesn't actually like it... I just like to show it off.

A teflon baking tray or similar is apparantly about as good as it gets. I personally use nothing other than the desk but then I'm using a G7 so on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment is what I use and that is awesome :D
Aye, this is a G7, it's taking a lot of getting used to.
I've got one of these: http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=671&pageID=900
Seems pretty good although I've just got a regular optical mouse. Plus it only cost me £6 inc postage :D
Mousemat??? whats one of them... I haven't had a mousemat for years :embarassed:
Got a link to the Allsops one, Malc? I can't find it.
Oooh teflon.... I haven't used a mousemat in years though.

I was going to get one of those - wonder how they do with a laser mouse (G5)? - Anyone had any experience or know anyone who has?
Stan :)
Wow, necroposting!
Just bought one of these (http://www.steelseries.com/products/steelpad/steelpad_qck_mini/information) (reviewed here (http://www.gameslave.co.uk/content/steelpad-qck-mini-review/)). Just the right size and it feels and works well. How well it'll cope as it gets dirty is a different matter, I used to wash my icemat fairly regularly.
I've got one of those, nice mousemats :) Found it very handy when I used to play Counterstrike a lot.
Didn't notice it get dirty either.
Yeah, I have to wash my icemat every now and then. I have one at work and I suspect the cleaners might be having a go at it (which has both good and bad points).
Would use one at home but there isn't room for it.
I must've have the oldest mousemat here, still using a Buff the Vampire Slayer Mousemat circa 1999 !!! Was a Christmas present from an Ex back then, and it's the oldest piece of computing bits i still use. I always wonder what are all these new mousemats are like and if they are better, pity you can't try it in the shops before buying one.

Not a chance. I own 2 mousemats, one of them came with my first PC which I bought probably sometime in late 98/early 99. The other I used to use with my Amiga 500 back in the day...
I still own Compuserve mousemats, and I'm pretty sure I have a Staffordshire Uni mousemat, circa 1992. :)
If we're going for history I've still got (and use) a mousemat which is like diving suit rubber stretched over a very thick piece of card, cost me £25 when Microsoft had just started selling their original mouse and the mouse was £118.
But I am an old git!
I feel like I'm missing out on a club here - I don't own and have never owned a mousemat! Then again my desk works well for laser mice so it's not a biggie. I don't know how I did it with the old ball mice....
