View Full Version : The Apprentice
It's finally back! The 'proper' not junior one.
Tonight, BBC1, 9pm.
Two investment bankers, two unemployed, and of course an ex-royal marine commando now turned mortgage broker.

Looking forward to this. My favourite part in all eposodes was the idiot who tried to sell chedder to the French, and his tin can stove .. ROFL :D
This always makes me laugh at the lack of common sense these peole have.
I'm away over night so I have set the Humax box to record it.
*bounces with glee*
Ever wondered what happened to the old Amstrad building that everyone walked out from when they were fired?

They filmed those exit scenes right at the start, we used to watch them being recorded. Over and over again!

If only i had access to a TV! :p
I fancy a sausage sarnie!
Forgot, again. That's two series I've missed the start of now. :/
Oh well, iPlayer downloader it is, then.
So that's one hundred chickens... and a hundred pizzas.
Or when the brough the wrong fragrance? "I'll leave that with you then".
Nick Hewer rocks!
Tonights was only average imho, sure it'll improve. That said, the one liners were good.
Sausages in supermarkets and lots and lots of food miles, these have lots and lots less. Or something like that :D

Some of the finest moments in the apprentice ever. Loved those absolutely cringe worthy moments...

I really hate this show and I think I've finally figured out why. It simply takes itself too seriously.
It would be easy to say that I'm not taking the show in the spirit it's intended, which is as an exploitative event that allows us to laugh at people with huge ambition, decent education, but little common sense. I don't think this is my fault though, I think it's false advertising of the show.
From my point of view it was always meant to be a competition to sort the wheat from the chaff in a high-end business environment from a group of people who should all be qualified for the winning position, but demonstrating their practical ability to exceed expectations i.e. showing that they have the, now bastardised phrase, X-factor. In reality, the entire group is just well-presented chaff. The problem I have is that it goes too far towards pretending to genuinely be about finding a bright young professional when the reality is that it's almost entirely entertainment. I guess there's an argument there that the humour and entertainment are found in the fact that, much like The Office or similar documentary-style comedies, it tricks people into thinking it's taking itself seriously when in fact the whole thing is a facade. Personally I find it too much of an imbalance. I'm not saying it needs some comedic narration a la Come Dine With Me, but at least on that show everyone involved knows it's just a laugh.
I've probably thought about it too much, and the fact I find Alan Sugar a complete tit anyway doesn't help, but you can't give a bunch of cluelessly over-ambitious people an often ridiculous task then shout at them for not doing well at it... then expect me to find it entertaining.
Just thought I'd give some food for thought rather than the usual 'God I hate The Apprentice!!!11' malarkey.
I agree with a lot of that - some of the decisions would be professional suicide for 'Lord Sugar', and for that reason....I'm out.
Oh, sorry, got my shows mixed up. It does annoy the crap out of me but I'm still gonna watch it.
Pretty much spot on my cheese eating friend, but it's still a good laugh to watch and call the "contestants" names :D
Our local radio station was talking about the Apprentice this morning and decided that "Lord Sugar" sounds like a porn name.
I agree.
They really do seemed to have picked a bunch of idiots this year, but then I don't think anyone normally stands out in week 1.
An unemployed graduate though? Come on.
I'm quite looking forward to watching this tonight :D
I was unsure whether to come back into this thread in case of spoilers but actually it's whet my appetite :D
