Blocking web page content in Firefox possible?

I use Adblock Plus and Flashblock in Firefox. Together, they are able to block most content I don't want to see. However, some websites are managing to get round them. For example: text advertising (Yahoo), the pleas for donations on Wikipedia, some scripts that create an animated window that slide up from the bottom containing an advert and the likes of eBay and HSBC where there is always a consistent part of their page dedicated to adverts.

Since Adblock and Flashblock are able to effectively screen and filter what's in the HTML, is it possible to meddle with Firefox and write in some filters? I know it can block images but the Adblock custom filter works better for this and I'd like to be able to filter the scripts as well. It's annoying because I can't think of an example of somewhere that does it to give you an example.

Or is there an Add-on that can do this?

My dad uses this and i subsequently hate browsing the web on his PC. Click to unblock scripts, click to run the flash panel for youtube etc...really irritating :/

That add-on lasted five minutes on my PC. Ads are actually less annoying than that.

Anyway, if there are specific bits of sites you want to hide, then this may help:

I use it to 'zap' the top of forum pages, particularly when they've got embedded ads, for example. I really don't need to scroll past the banner on every page I visit.

I think I had NoScript before, doesn't it keep popping up with messages, or is it another one I'm thinking about? That feature of Adblock looks interesting though. I'll give them both a go :)

Yeah, you might be needing a NoScript pop-up blocker! :)
