Can any of you Photoshop experts help out with sorting out the white background on this picture (http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp174/pauleagles/scan0044.jpg)?

The white around her head doesn't look great - inconsistent in colour and sort of mottled.. Blame the crappy scanner for that.
