View Full Version : IDE VS SATA I VS SATA II
I know interfaces have been above hte drive speeds for a while but just doing a whole load of moving about and got to see the differences.
SATA II to SATA II - sustained 90mb/s :D
SATA I to SATA II sustained 60mb/s
IDE to SATA II sustained 39mb/s :'(
And predicatably I have more IDE stuff to move than anything else. Anyone want a couple of 200gb IDE drives? :D
The IDE one is still going :( Rest finished long ago!

Have been doing similar today, myself...
Luckily, mine has all been SATA II to SATA II, though :p
I did find a couple of IDE drives earlier, though (40GB and 250GB), and do have several HDD trays free for my poota...
Only have 2.5TB in installed drives across my two computers... Tempting to increase that :)
I've got some 160gb maxtor drives that just keep going and going. Useful as an emergency spare. The new SSDs are something else though 2x of those in raid 0
Just bought a 2TB drive for the backup PC so the 1TB drive is now in my main pc so a 150gb SATA and 2x200gb IDEs are redundant. The 150gb may end up in the media PC when I get around to making that a runner again :)
Well I might be interested in them. I've only got 2 x 80gb in mine and I'm out of space and don't have SATA or SATA II. Could be a good time to upgrade :)
pm me if you want rid :)
