View Full Version : Flights - London to Vienna
Evening all.
I'm after a little help in finding the best price for a return flight to Vienna from London.
Unfortunately my father's brother passed away yesterday and I am planning to pay for his flight out to the funeral. We don't have any date yet so I asking for helping in picking out the best place to book a ticket.
Early next year (January/February time), I will be looking to fly out to Vienna myself. I can't make it out with my father but I wish to visit my relatives and to pay my respects.
Sorry to hear the news :(
BA from Heathrow were pretty much the only direct option for flights to Vienna last time I went. Book in advance and the prices should be pretty reasonable.
Depending when you book you may find Lufthansa via Frankfurt is cheaper but it's a pig of a journey as Lufthansa seem to have a few hours gap between connecting flights and Frankfurt airport is, even by German airport standards, dull.
I am sure my friends have flown to somewhere nearby and caught the train to Vienna and it was very simples. Ah ha!
Ok... so if you flew from London to Vienna it would cost almost £300 right now: BA, BMI and Easyjet fly direct.
Otherwise... this is what my friends did - they flew to Bratislava (£145) and got a train from Bratislava to Vienna....I was told it was really easy and simples! A quick Google found:
"i have just arrived back from bratislava. We travelled to Vienna and Budapest.
The train times are set 7days a week. You catch the train from hlvana stanica bratislava central station.
To vienna it costs 9 Euo return at takes 1 hour.
The trains run too and from both stations every hour until 23:00"

Similar to BBx but Brno to Vienna is pretty easy and you can fly Ryanair from Stansted. Still it could be a false economy as Mrs DL frequently finds it cheaper to fly to Vienna with BA than to Brno with Ryanair.
Ryan Air = Hisss Booo etc

Had the following website in amongst my favourites (don't remember using the site before):

I've been playing around with a few dates to see what it brings up.
