Pretty much the whole of the UK business world eligible has done this by now I think. We're not having it confirmed for a little while because the day after the holiday was announced the booking system was overloaded with the entire office trying to book it ;D

I've done this although as I'm just about to move placements the new people may be slightly less than thrilled that I won't be there for all that time.

Hmmm i'm wondering if work were fibbing now, they said we couldn't book in any of next years holiday (our year ends 31st of March) until the new year started.

Might try it on the system tomorrow.

My technicians have to send holiday requests through me. Somehow I got there before all of them. Damn shame that.

Our week is just closing for that period, as obviously so many people will be wanting this time off, they're just shutting down like they do over Christmas.

I have to use up my last bits of holiday before the end of april so I've taken the 4 days off before easter so it gives me 10 days off (counting weekends) so that's not bad. Then back at work for 3 days then 4 days off. So I can live with that! I then have a full holiday year ahead! \o/

I booked these days off a month or two back.

I've got stupid amounts of holiday days at work this year - 61.5 I believe. 30 from my normal allowance and 31.5 days that I carried over from last year.

My holiday dates for next year were set in 1951. The fact they coincide is a very welcome coincidence. :)

We only get to carry over five days. Since I will be doing that, I end up with a 24 day holiday and 24 days left to take. :)

I booked this a couple of months ago using four days holiday so it was great to be able to claim a day back and only use three days :D

That's quite generous although not if you never get to take them off - at my work currently I can carry over 9 days to the next holiday year, anywhere I've worked previously only gave me about that available to carry over or I just lost the days. That does remind me though I've still got to take an extra couple of days off before the next holiday year comes round.

We only get to carry over a maximum of 5 days to the next year or we lose them.

That's why I've got so much to carry over, I only managed to take 3 or 4 days off last year. I won't ever be doing that again.

We only get to carry over a maximum of 5 days to the next year or we lose them.

Same here actually but they made an exception because last year was such a manic year that it was a case of me not being able to take holiday rather than me choosing not to.

I did suggest they'd give me a months salary in exchange for the carried over days but they didn't go for it.
