Accord V C-class V CRV. Which one?

I am in the process of changing my car and I wonder what advice will you guys give? I am currently in the research phase and like the title suggested my choices are currently withered down to three.

Honda Accord (03 onwards/Auto/Petrol)

I like the looks, and judging from the reviews from owners, it appears to come with many extras as standard, side air bags etc. The drive is also said to be well refined.

Mercedes Benz C class (03 onwards/Auto/Petrol)

Not a big fan of the looks per se, however I have been driven in one before. The build quality looks nice and it feels solid.

Quick search shows there is a premium for serving and insurance class is higher than that of the Accord.



Honda CRV (03 onwards/Auto/Petrol)

Haven't had much experience here, but I like it for the practicality and looks.




As it stand, I have the Accord as first choice while the CRV and Benz comes in at second and third respectively.


What will you guys advice? Thanks.

What will you use if for and what are your priorities in a car?

I'd say avoid a C Class, unfortunately 03 still had some pretty serious reliability issues, my Uncle had a 52 plate S-Class and by 82000 miles it was ready for the scrap heap :(

Yeah, gotta agree with DL. I'd avoid an 03 C class. Although I have no personal experience of them, they do have a reputation, and a mate once had one as a company car and said it was "Meh, ok, I suppose", which is not what you want in a car.

After about 05 they seem to get better. I've had a 55 A class, a 59 A class and an 06 ( I think it was) E class as a long loan while they sorted out the demise of my TVR. All those were (are) fine.

My priorities are:
Comfort - something that can eat up the road bumps, not give me back ache.
Practicality - School run and family days out.
Obviously, I will like a car that is mechanically sound too, handles well and won't cost heaven and earth to repair.

From your selection my personal choice would be the Accord as it's a car and therefore should be moderately amusing to drive. Sure the CRV is a good bit of kit but for me it would be too compromised, for you with a family the extra height could be a good thing.

Don't forget you can get a nice MKIII Mondeo for £4k ;)

Yeah, the Accord and CRV are what I really have on my mind. Hopefully a clean example will come along when I am ready.

I will look into the mondeo, but I very much doubt I will pay for one though. Thanks.

Fair enough. I've owned 3 Saabs ('97 900XS, '99 93 HOT Sport, '03 93 Aero Sports Saloon) and have not really had much problem with any of them. I only mentioned them because they are generally cheap to buy and, if you use a specialist rather than a main dealer, cheap enough to run, with a decent amount of equipment and power.
