Thank you!

They ensure you win your item because you set it up to watch said item, and if someone else bids with 3 seconds to go, it can bid with one second left and therefore nobody else can win the item.
I am guessing you give it a maximum amount you are willing to pay so if it goes over that you could still lose out, but it means as long as it doesnt go over the amount then you always win the item.
*hopes shes explained it correctly*

You hire some marksmen who hide out opposite everyone who's going to bid on the item you want to buy. At the last moment, the trigger is pulled and you're the only one left bidding.

Mei, I work in Milton Keynes (when I'm in the office that is) so can collect for you if time is a problem and then either send it on from work or whatever.
Thanks Paul :) its rather heavy and cumbersome hence why I need to collect and also she's specified pick up on a saturday (I think she means tomorrow) as she has said she works 9-6.
I don't think MK is too far from me though?
Thank you for the kind offer though :)

With no traffic it's about 90 minutes. From yours I'd head through the Blackwall Tunnel, up the A12, M11, M25 then M1. Watch out for the average speed camera zone on the M1, most people go back up to 70 when they clear the first loat of roadworks but the 50mph zone is still in place until about J13.
If you can't get there then an evening collection wouldn't be a problem for me, I'm rarely out of the office before 7.
I think auctionsniper gives you free snipes. It did when I joined & it does when you recommend someone.

Can someone explain the need for a specific sniping tool to me please? When I bid on an item, I decide on the maximum amount I am willing to pay, enter that in and let ebay bid automatically. What are the advantages of using a sniping service over the automatic ebay bidding tool?
It's a question I've often asked Stan. Not sure I understand it either!
Because usually when I am bidding I am watching as well and usually bid in the last minute.
Tonight I won't be at a computer so need someone to do it for me! :D
Wouldn't usually be a problem if it was something I wasn't too fussed about. But I want this :p

If you bid £1 and have a max bid of £5.
Someones bids £3, eBay will automatically put in yor £5 bid in for you with all the time remaining. This give the other person time to outbid you.
With a sniping tool, that £5 bid would be withheld until 1 second left should someone come in with a bid that's higher than your bid and under your max bid.
^^ this. I've currently bid up to £20 on an item via sniper, but the auction shows '0 bids'.
So, if someone else thinks they can sneak up at 5 minutes to go and bid low because no-one else is insterested, then unless they're prepared to bid over £20, they aint gonna get it :) Also reduces the chances of people pushing up the price because x amount of people are interested. Keeps costs lower, in general.

or indeed stops the seller seeing one bid, and then getting his mate to bid on it to try and force the price up...

I did and I still use it. I've never paid for a snipe on there at all. I put a small link on one of my web sites and just the fact that it's there gets me a free snipe per week.
OooOOOo Intriguing! Thank you for the explanation Mawee

This. I like :D Hahaha!

that's what I meant :)
ok the snipe is set - lets see what happens :D
so the bid is at £53.00 I have set a max bid of £100 so... technically if the bids keep going up and up and does not exceed £100 - I will swipe at the last moment and 'should' get the bid at the lowest bid it is... so technically I could get it it for less than £100.
Or... I could not get it at all..
Either way is cool :)
Thanks for your help guys!

thx4 offer James! :D
I'll see if I know anyone wanting to sell their old type BB. x
My auctionsniper worked for me :D 0 bids - willing to pay up to £20, few small bidders later got it for a fiver. Woot!
Awww thanks Dawny! :D
A classmate managed to get an instructor's old pole as she had to give up training.
Otherwise I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy full price. :/
Looking for a 45mm :) static & spin

I looked up pole dancing classes (I don't know why... I was talking to Mawee about them and all) and they're extortionately priced!!! £10 for an hour - 3 to a pole!
That's basically £10 for 20mins!
Insane!
Wouldn't even tell you how much I am paying in that case :/
You would be HORRIFIED!!!

Hidbid.com is a good sniping service. You get 5 free snipes per week.

Automated sniping is a convenience for people that want to avoid drawing early attention to an item, and 'nibbling' bidders (bidders who will bid the minimum increment over and over until they're the high bid), both of which normally result in a higher final price. If you have the time, you can do it manually.
It doesn't guarantee that you'll win, just that, if you do win, it's likely that the final price will be lower than if you bid early. You can't control other bidders however, so if there's already some early bidding on the item, the whole 'not attract attention to the item' goes out the window.
A couple more benefits of sniping:
1. You can just cancel a snipe with up to 2 or 3 minutes before the end of an auction, if you change your mind about bidding on an item, and your bid won't be placed. If you place a bid on ebay and then retract it (not a seller's or ebay's favorite thing), you can be blocked from bidding on other auctions after doing this a few times, not sure what that # is.
2. Sniping is actually a way of combating shill bidding - when the seller or his buddy bids on the item until they're the high bid, and know your max, then retract their bid, and use yet another account to bid on the item, bidding just below your max. You don't give the shiller time to retract their bid in order to leave you as the high bidder, close to your max. You can't do much about a shill bidder letting their bid ride to the end of the auction, if it just raises but doesn't exceed yours.
Anyone bidding on ebay should understand ebay's proxy bidding system (accepts your whole bid amount, but raises it only until it is the high bid, or it has been exceeded), and have an idea about their bid increments:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-increments.html
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/bid-increments.html

The best plan for ebay bidding - bid once, late.

Mines £8 and there's only 2 to a pole for an hour and a half. If the class doesn't end up being full though, you get the pole to yourself.

But tis in Brizzle... which will end up costing me too much wonga to get there and back!

Not really when you consider that we have to put poles up and down (takes me an hour to put up and an hour down, plus rental of hall, plus insurances, plus all the other things that go with it) and it's not just an exercise class, it's an ariel class.
My courses are £45 for 5 weeks course (£35 if you're a student) and I only allow 2 per pole and no more.

Mandy just got one of the new bottom loading 50mm ones; it took the both of us 45 minutes to work it out the first time (we are slow though :p )

You must have different poles as ours take 15 mins max to get up :/

I think she means an hour for all the poles. I think she had six to put up/take down when I was there & it deffo took an hour at least, possibly more to lug them all in one by one, put them up, then take them down lug them all back across the car park. And that wad with 3 of us!
Unoloading 5 poles in cases, 4 safety mats, music system etc from car, loading into trolley, getting up to second floor, unloading all again, setting all poles up, cleaning and safety testing 50 mins roughly. Teach for 2 hours then reverse the process, which is marginally quicker.
All poles in pieces in bags so need to be fully put together then undone.

I was thinking of you last night while I was doing it! I earn that flipping money! Haha!
I can see that! I think the one here in Weston is rammed by the sounds of things. On the phone she was like "You get about 20mins on the pole"... which to me feels like a waste of moolah but then that's only because I'm comparing it to full lessons of ballet and burlesque for less money. Didn't consider the prep til you said! It's pretty mega! Go you for being awesome at it and now I can appreciate the costs! Blimey gov! :D

Some teachers are a bit naughty and take far too many students per class to make more money! I'm a good girl me!
Ooh, I am currently trying out AuctionSniper! I'm excited!
