Well, mums just cancelled our sky multiroom as they wanted to charge £30 extra because it wasn't connected to a phone line.

So, we'll probably be getting a Freesat HD box I guess. Couple of questions though...

If we've still got Sky on another box, could a Freesat box share that satellite? Then, I'm guessing the installation is pretty straight forward & it shares the same coax cables etc?

Anyone got any suggestions as to what boxes are best? Currently looking at this as being probably the best option:

Can't think of any reason why they shouldn't 'play nice'. The technology is the same. Unless of course the Sky box has some in-built self-destruct - "You did WHAT?" ;D

You can share the dish but not the LNB obviously. Assuming you have a dual/quad LNB with a spare output on it then you can use this whilst the Sky box is connected to another output without any problems.

I was looking at this yesterday. That box has great reviews and I am about to put an order in.

I've even found that Argos do satellite installs that have good reviews (they use local blokes). I'll ring around as I have everything done already. There are satellite mounting holes, tacks on the outside wall and even a hole going into the living room. A few years ago I would just jump on a ladder and do it as the install will be easy :)

better option is to get the 500gb for £5 more:-

or I have seen the 320gb for £235.

Humax seem pretty good on the whole. I know someone who had to use their support recently and while I don't know the final outcome, it didn't seem bad.
