I'm letting my living room 5.1 kit go.

Ive decided that as the only things the upstairs TV gets used for is ANTM and Waybaloo that we don't really need an amp and speakers up there for surround or heavy bass plus the cables and cabinet are a temptation for Amelie to pull on or fall on to.

I can quite confidently say that the speaker and the amp are brilliant, those of you who have been to Bannister Heights and been in the cellar know that I am uncompromising with my kit and when I bought both of these I made sure I was getting the best value for money I could, consistently the effect of these together is excellent.

So here is what I have

4x Canton CD10 (surround)
1x Canton CD50 (centre)
1x Canton CD1 SC (sub)
2 stands for the CD10s

All in silver and all in good nick, these speakers are good quality and they are heavy not the stupid light rubbish you get with a TV, they sound 100x bigger than they look

Also on the block is my Marantz SR5400

This thing is an excellent 5.1 amp and is very very capable power wise, it will handle most things but it doesn't do HDMI switching, I haven't seen anything decent with HDMI which doesn't have an optical out so it should matter but someone might see it as a compromise if they want state of the art kit.

I'll throw in 5 cables of various lengths 2-7m
1 Sub cable
2x optical leads

Here are the pics

Put me down as an interested party please, couple of things to get sorted first. I need to get 5.1 again and this would be an ideal way to do it.

Duely noted :)

Just for the sake of completeness I have been in the loft and I can add that the deal will also include

1x Canton CD20

This was the original centre which I upgraded when I bought the kit and have never used (although it does seem to have picked up a scratch in the loft)

(Please note, prop sock is not included)

Absolutely brand spanking new remote (I disposed of my previous amp which was also a Marantz and used the old remote so this one stayed in the box untouched)

Original box

Now having 6 speakers and a 6.1 amp you have everything you need for a 6.1 setup in this deal

Spur-of-the-moment decision that I need to do something with my system - but not yet decided if it's downsize or get rid. I suspect my amp is similar to yours so my primary interest would be the speakers, but I could always sell one or other amp with my speakers.

Big issue for me would be the lack of car, but if that can be worked around then I'd like to express a reserve interest.

OK chaps, Feek is first in line, if you can let me know once you know mate :), Mark you have first refusal if Feek has to decline.

Are you sure you can't include the sock? Tis a deal-breaker for me I'm afraid :(

Matblack

Sorry Kitten, the sock was a present from Amelie, well actually the pair of socks of which that is one, so it has sentimental value.

I'm out, it's all yours Mark. It's a cracking deal but it's not for me right now.

Payday Friday so I'll need to check the lie of the land thereafter before committing, though I plan to sell a camera to pay for it. And there's still the transport problem to resolve.

If someone else happens by with a better plan, please don't wait.

Well I do a Chelmsford -> Basingstoke run each week so I could help with some of the transportation stuff.

If Mark only wants the speakers how much for just the amp fella?

Matblack

£80 & P&P which after I've bought some thing to make it secure in the box will probably be about £20, this thing is bloody heavy at 12.5kg

Which makes the speakers £170 plus P&P which I estimate at again £20.

Spliting these will make them easier to post and I'd be more willing to consider it

Two minor issues I've discovered. 1) I can't use my good cables (they're teminated with banana plugs) - no biggie as I can just cut the plugs off or use the supplied wire. 2) The rears don't fit my stands (the current rears don't either which is why I never got them out). This one's a bit more of a bummer - need to find someone who's good at metalwork to make me a pair of brackets.

I'll read up on the amp specs and compare them with mine, but the split makes sense regardless. I'm surprised the P&P is only £20, but not going to complain. :)

Those terminals will take bare wire or banana plugs

OK - I read that the CD10s wouldn't, but maybe that was just the CD10 II. Thanks. :)

Matblack

Well that black thing is a plastic cap which comes out so (I can only presume) they will take a banana plug

As for stands, I have two stands as part of the package, I used them for rears and wall mounted the fronts.

Thats interesting, you are correct, the coloured things that look like plugs aren't they are coloured caps to designate polarity :/

See. :p

I can live with that - too good a bargain to turn down for a very minor inconvenience. :)

Not sure I want to do any wall mounting, but I have a pair of stands myself that could be adapted with a little creative engineering if I can find someone to do it, and I've got a temporary solution in mind in the meantime.

Just waiting on the weekend now to see how the finances hold up. :)

Haven't forgotten, but have realised I need to think this through a little more (holiday upcoming to make a big hole in my finances). Will try to sit down with a calculator and work it out tomorrow - sorry for the delay.

Did have a look around the shops yesterday and was amazed by how cheap 5.1 systems have got. The reason was obvious as soon as I picked up a few of the speakers though. :)

OK, I've checked out the Amp. Mine rates slightly better in some areas and yours in others, so overall it doesn't make sense for me to change what I've already got (assuming the layer of dust I blew off mine while checking it over hasn't killed it).

Speakers I'm just waiting for my account to get emptied on Friday to make sure I have enough left, but 99% sure I'll want them please (assuming payment and delivery can be sorted out).

MB - assuming these haven't gone elsewhere, then thank you for bearing with me for an inordinate quantity of procrastiation.

The answer is 'yes please' to the speakers, cables, stands, etc. Happy to let the amp go as mine is plenty capable of driving these speakers.

I've cleared some space in my PM inbox to negotiate the finer points of money, delivery, etc.

I 'might' be able to drop these off, we're probably going to see my parents during the week with the long bank holidays, not sure what days yet but there is a chance we'll be passing by :)

That'd be very handy. I've got afternoon appointments on 27th and 28th but other than that, I'm not going anywhere. :)

Have just sold my 450D to pay for it, so I can do cash in hand if you want.
