OK Peeps, I'm going to put this out there, I'm new to running but I've suprised myself and I'm actually quite enjoying it.
Having decided to do the Couch to 5k program I'm thinking I might as well give myself something to aim for, so I'm going to enter for an official 5k fun run (<<<NOTE, NOT A RACE).
Now I know a lot of you are running more then 5k as a matter of course but remember, until a couple of weeks ago I had never considered running at all so this will be a challenge for me :o.
So I wondered if anyone fancied joining me? I've found two both in London, one in Victoria Park in East London in October
http://www.bigfunrun.com/?london&locations_id=59
and one in Regent's Park in Central London in August
http://www.anthonynolan.org/royal5kromp
I actually like the look of the second one
I'd being doing this for no other reason than to prove to myself that I can and to raise a bit of money for charity.
So how about it novice runners? And maybe our seasoned runners?

I could be up for this mate, could be fun :)
5k wouldn't be a massive issue for me as I used to run it a little, but it would be tough enough as I've not run for such a long time.

Thanks guys, it would be great to have you along for the run, it will give me something to look at as you disappear into the distance :D
I've commited myself to running the Royal Romp and paid the entrance fee, if anyone wants to sponser me then the page is here

no pressure though ;)
MB
I'd probably be behind you ;D

Brilliant charity, I will donate a little later :) I will cheer you all on, however I don't think I will be taking part!! Think I would collapse half way through :p

I will most certainly be behind and not in front :D
If I did it, I'd go too fast at the beginning thinking I'm fine, then crawl across the line with my spleen hanging out :p
I've chucked a few £ your way, MB.
The Anthony Nolan trust is very close to my heart having lost a friend to leukaemia. I'm a registered bone marrow donor and about 10 years ago came very close to donating.
I'll throw a few £ in too at some point.
Not sure I'll ever be up to 5k (knees are a bit knackered), but we'll see - if I don't keep getting setbacks I might just stand a chance. In the meantime I'll support and cheer from the sidelines. :)

Wow thanks guys thats very generous of you.
Anyone who is interested in running on the day all the info is on the site to register.
We'll be taking Amelie up for the day and it would be great to meet up :D
MB
Ooo, that's quite reasonable for a 5K. Some of them are quite expensive for what would be an everyday run for experienced runners. I think I might be away that weekend, so I'll have to check dates before committing. I might be up for fancy dress ;)

Shotgun babysitter! :D
Well done for taking the first step and entering MB. Fantastic cause too. I shall fling some monies your way when I get home.
I was supposed to be doing "race the train" in Wales that weekend but have changed my mind - too many race commitments - so we might be around. If we are, I'll come and run it with you for some moral support en route :)
MB, you officially have a running partner :D

Bloody hell, have you registered!
I'd better put in some serious practice!
MB
Yep, all signed up ;)
No need to practice....for some reason I'm just not built for running so my pace is pretty crap. We'll just plod along together and finish together :)
Errr, you might find that MB is pretty damned fit by August :p

I might be a lot fitter but I doubt I'll be fast, although I think my natty new shorts might be good for wiping 5 minutes off my 5k time

plus I have Nike rain protection, this running is a serious business! :)

I'll be walking it hopefully I'll at least jog a bit and they won't clear the route before I get around
MB
I 'thought' you had Matt but didn't see the link in the OP.
I hope you manage to get some solution before then.
Wonder what pants I should wear :/

I think some of you should join me in the Spartan Race in October.
Proper racing which needs fitness, heart and a screw loose.
http://www.spartanrace.com/
Pretty much gonna die even though I'm only doing the Spartan "Sprint" (3miles with 10 obstacles).
That race looks insane but fun - I'm sure I'd die but I'd remember it for a long time too! :D
There's a 'sprint' one in Exeter this August that running chums and I could be very interested in! :D
(as the fattest, unfittest of the group though I might have eyes too big for my belleh!- literally!)

I might be up for this... but then I have had a couple of lunchtime bevvys. Sounds much more fun than a standard race. :D
