I always seem to have issues with NAT settings on my Xbox & I've always thought the easy fix was open ports, set a static IP and maybe even stick it in the DMZ.
None of the above seems to work. When I first changed the settings over (most recent change being 2 days ago) my NAT went Open. Bonus, obviously fixed.
Yesterday, Moderate.... today, Strict!
I've just tried to ping the static IP that my xbox is on from my router itself and my mac. Both requests timed out. Is that normal? If I've got a static IP assigned & its sat in a DMZ (I just disabled that though) and all the rest of it, then surely I should still be able to ping it!?
They're all connected - my router has a mains adapter to reach my xbox on the 2nd floor and also a switch on the 1st floor with my mac, another xbox and PC on it... I cant see a problem in my network connections.
Networking is my computing weakness, and what always annoys me.
Any ideas?

ok that's odd. Unplugged my xbox's mains adapter and after a few mins off the network I've now got Open NAT. I also however am getting about half the normal speed on a wifi speed test from my phone :/ better than strict NAT tho!
