View Full Version : Have you ever wondered....
The first person who used fat on toast (probably Lard, as I am guessing it came before butter), what went through their head....
and
Whoever invented alcohol, what possessed their mind to drink something that has been sitting still for months and smell off. Then after drinking it, make you all weird would think....that was a good thing? It seems to be against all logic.
This goes for Cheese as well, who in the right mind would eat mouldy food? We use our sense of smell to detect poison to protect ourselves, to check whether food has gone off and mouldy food is bad, its what our instinct tells us so what was the first person thinking off i wonder....Hmmmmm, my bucket of milk that i left out for year has turned into a block of green mould, but lets take a bite and see?
Probably the same sort of people who thought it would be a good idea to jump out of a plane with a sheet hanging above their head or jump off a bridge only tied on with some elastic :D
Or try and take a contact lens out using a stanley knife ...

Its like the old who first discovered milk and what did he think he was doing at the time joke!
For that matter WTF possessed them to ground up seeds to make flour to even be able to make bread in the first place? Earliest evidence suggests 9000 years ago someone suddenly thought "I know, I'll roll these seeds around between two rocks for a lark" Then having got something like flour thought "I wonder how it cooks?"
Mushrooms.
"Ere, Ogg, try this"
*Ogg cuffs it in convulsions of agony, frothing at the mouth"
"Ere, Ugg, here's one that looks different, try this"
Om nom nom-nom.

Fish and chips, whoever decided to mix up some flour and water one day, dunk the fish in it and then bung it in a pan of really hot oil to cook it?
And chips, who decided that potatoes were boring just boiled and chopped them into slices and again bunged them in a pan of really hot oil?
Who knows; but thank god all of the above did all of the above so that I may enjoy their findings!

You can never account for idiots.

And who was the first person who looked at a beehive and thought, "Those little buggers are hiding something delicious in there, I knows it."
How about the first person to boil an egg? What were they trying to acheive?
Bears! They know stuff.
Like picnics are good?
Park Rangers are to be avoided...
I think most things were achieved by accident lol...
One memorable one 'oh I wonder if I could fit my whole hand in this glass handle' ;)

That probably came about because someone thought it was be hilarious to push their mate into one and it broke so they found the honey ;D

I keep coming back to this one. A lot of the food things have probably been discovered by accident many moons ago.....why the hell did this guy jump off the tower FFS? They had a video camera, they weren't in the age of the caveman. Could they not fashion a man sized and weighted item to test the parachute with? ;D

According to wiki
Initial experiments conducted with dummies dropped from the fifth floor of his apartment building had been successful, but he was unable to replicate those early successes with any of his subsequent designs.
So he got it right, then kept getting it wrong and decided to test one of the wrong ones?! Apparently he had a heart attack before he even hit the ground, not that he'd have likely survived that drop.
