View Full Version : Tonsillitis
I haves it and hates it. That is all. *cough*
Anyone know any old wives remedies to keep it settled?

I get this ALOT! Unfortunately I don't know of any home remedies other than gargling salt water. Get yourself to the docs for Medication.
I shall give the salt water a go. It's only today that it's been my tonsils, but there have been signs for a while now. Stupid Goose.
I'll be booking an appointment on Monday.
Alcohol is antiseptic, try drowning your tonsills in the Danish firewater?
I will order the Viking wench to fetch me some grog!
I hope she doesn't read that over your shoulder....
Salt water it is - supposedly. Well, at least until you get the grog!
Had it when I was about ten, had 'em out when that was the done thing (nowadays I believe they recommend you don't unless there's a good reason).
I don't think a heterosexual man like you will go for the remedy ALL girls have been encouraged to try. Apparently it's great for headaches too.
hehe!
She brought me a fine alcoholic beverage before I slept and it worked a treat.
Aw bubs! Hot toddys! If it doesn't ease it, it will make you snooze through it ;D
Hot toddys are my ailment to every bodily issue.
"Hmm. I've scraped my knee......" *starts heating milk, honey and lemon in a pan and gets out whisky ready to pour and drink*
:D
TCP in water might be a bit more palatable to gargle than salt water.
I don't get tonsilitis any more because I had them taken out.
Turns out it's a little worse than expected. I will have a fever for a few days more, and I've been banned from playing rugby for 1 month minimum, with a warning that I could be fatigued for 3 months. Woop.

I've had a bit of success with antiseptic mouthwash.
It doesn't really soothe the pain or anything but they don't flare up quite as often as they used to.
Get well soon, Chap.
Frijj milkshake.
Failing that, hot curry. Sounds mad, but works once the initial, searing, throat-ripping pain dies down.

I'm thankful I don't have mine anymore I used to get so ill with them when I was a child :(
I went deaf so went to the dr thinking ear infection/serious wax problem; got told I had tonsillitis and my tonsils and glands were so swollen they were pushing my ear canals closed - as I didn't have a sore throat or feel ill any other way it was quite surprising.
Hope you feel better soon
