As I am now a fully paid up member of the dark side, I'm looking for essential apps, I already have a few but I'm interested in what else is out there.

So what do you find yourselves using?

Nothing earth shattering! :D Also not all I use just things not on Del's list! :)

Ooh! Also Where's my Droid! Set code words and text your phone: Switches on ringer at full volume etc even if on silent before. A different code word can ping it for a GPS location! Proper mega cool! :D

Just basic ones that get used the most,

Antivirus Free - Creative Apps.
Better Keyboard 8 - Better Android.
Google Maps - Google Inc.
Official Ebay Android App - eBay Mobile.
Facebook.
YouTube - Google Inc.

Drag Racing - Creative machine needs downloading though.

Red Laser

Struggled to get the iPhone version to produce any useful results, so I hope the Droid version is better.

Wish I'd set up the iPhone equivalent before I lost mine. Might have avoided a whole lot of bother. :(

anyone have any data usage monitors they can recommend? Tried a few freebies but they all seem to work intermittently so could do with a tried & tested one.

Also, how good is swype? :D

Not got come across any decent data monitors. Only just looked though. I tried 3g Watchdog and I think it ate battery! :(

Also Swype is bloody awesome, super fast but occasionally throws up a corker of a wrong word :D

Finally got round to buying Beautiful Widgets today, worked out at £2.24 but the weather and clock widgets are a massive improvement over the Samsung ones so very happy with the purchase.

Does anybody know of a 'switch toolbar' that has mobile internet, wifi, gps and bluetooth on?

:)

I had to use individual toggles I found on the web etc. One of the ROM's I used had built in toggles.

The SGS2 has all this on the notification bar :D

Jingo

The 1st SGS has too - and a fine feature it is!

I have individual toggles but the icons look PANTS - the standard HTC has a useful one incorporating everything I want including a screen brightness tool also, but doesn't have mobile internet which seems daft!

By mobile internet, do you mean, turn data mode on and off? If so what's wrong with a long press of the power button and deactivating data? Or is this only available on the specialised power menu i run with my rom. It's been so long i've run stock that i'm confused...

Here is a screen shot of what I was talking about

No it's in the stock as well...would seem to be the best solution.
