View Full Version : BBx runs a Half Marathon :D (yes officially mad!) Please sponsor me :)
Hi guys,
As some of you will know, this year I have done a 5km and a 10km - both of which I have done before but managed to PB them both this year. As I have been feeling quite fit because of the training for them I have decided to push myself a little further and do a Half Marathon :)
So in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TIME! I am doing the Run to the Beat Half Marathon in Greenwich (near where I live - THANK GOD! I can hobble home lol!).
I am supporting two charities - both of them brilliant :) the first one is Leukaemia and Lymphoma who helped me get a place on the run:

Also the British Heart Foundation - which I wanted to fundraise for for a special reason. My friend Christine's nephew passed away at 16mths old a couple of years ago and the whole family have been fundraising since then for BHF. I wanted to add to their total by running for Jake. :)

I also had a personal reason for choosing BHF as some of you know I had heart complications as a baby and this is my way of saying 'thank you' to everyone who would have supported my parents and family back in the day. :)
Any donation is appreciated and will definitely help with my motivation!
Can't thank you enough.

Good luck with the run, hope the weather is kind for you. I've gone with the BHF as my dad recently had a heart attack, as far as these things go it was fairly minor and he seems to be recovering well thankfully but it was still a bit of a scare. Afraid it's only a small donation but this month is going to be fairly tight for money unfortunately.
Thanks for sponsoring me Dan :) really grateful!!!!!

Thanks James! :D and see you guys tomorrow :) I will be at the Leukaemia and Lyphonma tent at the end.
Thanks to everyone for their donations and support :) went up to the O2 today and all the barriers are out on the roads on the way and the arrows on the roads... scared, nervous and excited!
Ice is in the fridge for the bath afterwards, pasta has been consumed... chilling with X Factor and an early night for BB x :)
Does anyone know who Dianne Cannon is? She's sponsored me but I have NO idea who she is!!!

as on fb : not Dyan Cannon? http://m.imdb.com/name/nm0001007/ :o
Thankyou for doing this, as you know, Matt's grandfather died from leukemia related illness last year, and, my friend's baby Ted was diagnosed with leukemia at 18 months. 2 years and 2 rounds of chemo and he's in remission, which wouldn't be possible without the money people like you are raising. You should, be very proud, it's a brilliant thing you are doing.
Big love & Good luck. Wish we could be there to see you do it x

Thanks for all of the well wishes, sponsorship and support :)
Came in at 2hours 17mins and 50secs which I am SOOOOOO chuffed about!! :D
Especially when I thought my time was 2hours 31mins... (according to the clock time) my maths is obviously rubbish! :p official time here with my breakdowns :)

Today was HOT 22degrees and very sunny... I took advantage of all of the water stations... best bit of advice was from Reeves who told me to 'take tissues'. ;)
Was a really good run and a great atmosphere... Most of the way round I had a big smile on my face :) there is music on stages all the way round which gives you a boost :) I had a name badge on my top so randoms were shouting me name and encouraging me!!! :D Also the little kids giving out jelly babies and holding out their hands so you can high five them :)
I also had the advantage of having friends who lived on the route... Shereen had made me a banner which was brilliant and she did a video but YouTube told her she had to take it down as it had the Eye of the Tiger on it!! I'm glad I managed to see all of my friends :) it was particularly great to see them at the most challenging points - 6 and 8miles and of course my parents were at the end... along with William who sprinted across Europe from a family wedding to be there.
The last mile was the hardest for me... tired and people passing out all over the shop, but still managed a sprint finish ;)
One of the best days of my life. Thank you all xxx

Yay Mei Mei. A massive well done :D
Very, very, very well done! :)
PS - Depending on what format the video is in, it probably wouldn't be too hard to strip out the sound if you want to post it up. :)
Well done. 13 miles is an amazing distance. BE PROUD!
Well done Mei. It is a huge achievement - to complete that distance and for the funds you are raising. And what a cracking time! Glad we could be there to see you being a star xx
Fantastic stuff BBx :) Marathon next? ;)
