Went out on my bike this morning & was cruising along about 3 car lengths behind the car in front doing around 35mph when some blind **** in an old Golf pulled out then saw me & stopped right in the middle of the road. I did my best to stop but knew I was going to T bone the car, I stepped up on my footpegs & went over the handle bars onto the bonnet & then across the road, I ended up in on coming traffics way so I carried on rolling until I hit the kerb. When I went over the bars I didn't quite clear the tank & hit my groin real hard, It literally feels like I've been kicked in the sacks by an Elephant 3 times & to say it aches is a Massive understatement. My leathers armour & back protection saved me though.
Whilst laying on the floor waiting for the ambulance I asked the **** how the **** didn't he see a 6ft 5 inch guy wearing a Brand new hi vis vest, He just said Sorry & he didn't see me.
He has put his hands up though & told the Cops I wasn't speeding or owt & he just didn't see me & pulled out, Gutted about my bike though.
The witnesses & locals that helped me were unbelievably lovely, One sat with me & another came down & took my bike round his back garden for safety, The Ambulance crew were superb & Leicester Royal A&E were not only quick they were lovely to me as well.
So Big Thanks to all the helpers & healers.
I've been x rayed for a suspected broken/fractured pelvis but all is well down there just some heavy bruising/tissue damage.
The weird thing about all this is just how damn good I feel I think I have Survivor Joy. +
And Yes it is a cool story Bro considering I'm alive/still in one piece

Very glad to hear you're ok, it's a pity about the bike but definitely look on the bright side that there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage to you at least. It's also good that the other driver has admitted fault straight away.
Glad you're ok!
Shame about the bike though, all because someone didn't look properly :(

Very glad you are ok. Having just got back from attending a speeding course, we had a section about being aware of bikes, and how road users need to be more aware of them.
Hope you don't need too much time off work to recover, and that you are mended soon. :)

I can see your sick note already...
Dear Malc's boss,
Malc cannot work for the next week as he has bruised balls, not due to a Doris.
Love and hugs
Malc's doctor
On a serious note, glad to hear that you're otherwise ok and it wasn't more serious :)

Soooo glad you're ok, my heart was in my mouth when I saw 'Bike Crash'.
GWS Mr Malc.
Wow, that could have been so much worse. So many bikers wear the wrong clothing when out on bikes, glad you were properly equipped!
Bloody hell Malc, glad you're relatively unscathed!
From one biker to another - how's the bike?
Oh and glad you're ok :)

Scary stuff! Glad you are recovering! :)
Ahhh man, that sucks! So so so glad you're alright ... hope your balls are better soon. Get a lady friend to kiss them better from Sam and I!
Tis the one thing I am aware I'm going to be a part of... a bunch of dim wits not seeing motorbikes. What an absolute egit that guy was. Hope it doesn't put you off riding (how's the bike?!)
Glad you're okay again mister xx :)

That's the sign of a good friend there. Someone who gets you a "lady friend" to kiss your nuts better. Medicinal use of course ;)
Glad you're ok dude.

This puts a new light on my normal excuse:
"I slipped over in the shower and smashed my balls on the tap. I'l come in when I can walk again"
;D
In all seriousness though (can you see I've put on my serious face?), this is the reason I stopped riding. I did a number of years without a bad off but had SO many near misses, particularly in situations like this one. It just caught up with me after a while and that nasty accident was waiting for me round a corner at any time, so I called it a day.

Feeling real sore this morning & my Willy(Bell end) has gone a dark shade of Mauve. My Willy has been well & Truly Smashed :'(
My right side groin is really tight now so I can't stretch my right leg out properly so walking is awkward & painful & of course the small of my back is giving me jip.
I here what your saying Johnny69 as this crash has really bothered me as I cannot think of one single thing I could have done to prevent or avoid this accident, If I had been speeding or dressed dark or any other excuse it wouldn't be so bad but I've told a few now that even if a cop bike rider was going up there he wouldn't have been any safer than me.
Fact of the matter is if you ride a bike on the road then you put your life in the hands of idiot car drivers no matter how cautious/visible/slow you go.
Yikes, so many cretins on the road now :(
As odd as this sounds, take pictures showing the bruising. Do this every day and keep a diary of all the problems you are having. That way when you go and claim PI you can show pictures to the doctor of just how nasty it was.

Glad you're in one piece
When will you find out about your pelvis?
Justsomebloke
30-10-2011, 14:37
I was x rayed yesterday & my pelvis is fine bone wise so I s'pose it's just tissue/muscle damage that's aching. To be honest I'm just glad I've still got my tackle as it felt like I'd ripped summit off when I was laying on the road/kerb, As I came to a stop everything down there went really warm like when your boot/shoe/trainer fills with blood, I just kept my legs together & everything tight hoping it would hold everything in, It was quite a funny moment though when I had a female paramedic & a female police officer standing there whilst I was instructed to stick my hand down there & check for blood as my blood pressure was low the first time they took it, I stuck my hand down there & shuffled about then literally Shouted It's All There :party2: + ;D
Glad to hear your ok. It's amazing how time slows down and allows you to at least make the situation better.
What a numptey but at least he admitted he was in the wrong, I suppose we're all human after all.
Just goes to show that having the right gear on is damn near everything when it comes to surviving proper bike accidents.
Glad to hear you're OK and mostly undamaged, aches and strains aside. GWS and keep plenty of evidence for his insurance.

Noooooo! Glad you're alright (apart from the, ahem, gentlemans area). Is this the nike from the motors thread? That you've done so much work on lately?

Yes mate it is the bike I've done untold work on, Complete sickener to be honest as I got the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle Saturday morning & after fitting it the bike is/was 100% perfect.
I went & got my bike this morning with a Luton van with a tail lift so I didn't have to lift anything. Now the bikes back I just want to strip it out & get it fixed so I can get myself out on it as quick as possible. Of course I am crapping myself but I'm not the kind of person to let summit beat me.
Glad you're ok mate - having had a similar incident happen to me I can sympathise - fortunately I only had very minor bruising.
Hope you get the value of the bike back and you're back on 2 wheels soon. :)

That sucks. I mean, it's bad enough to have an accident, and in the scheme of things, the bike doesn't really matter as long as nobody was seriously injured, but it's still gutting to put so much work into something and then someone messes it all up.
It was a bit like my TVR. I spent ~£8500 doing work on it. I had sorted out all the crap, and was at a point where I could start spending money on the nice things, like upgrades, when some bird wrote it off on the M1.
Anyway, hopefully you'll get it fixed (again) and get back out there asap.
Won't you need to let the insurance assessors see it in the damaged state before you start repairing it? I presume/hope the driver did have insurance.

You'd think so Jhadur but my insurance didn't say owt & specifically asked me if I wanted to take it to my local garage & get it fixed myself.
I'll be taking loads of pics & keeping all the bent bits, receipts, paperwork etc
I just don't want to wait for them to pull there finger out & take months when I can get it back on the road within a week or two. If the bike is left in storage for 3-6 months it will need untold work to get it back to where it is now.
I honestly only want my bike back as it was, The claim for injurys & my leathers/helmet etc is seperate.
I only want back what I've lost. :)

Glad to hear you are okay. This is what I don't like about bikes, you just aren't as safe as in a car.
I should get a quote for the repair work before you start. You don't have to get it done but the insurance may well ask for a quote at some point.
Glad you're alright considering the airtime!
I hope you're back on the road again soon with minimal faff!

Had a letter from the Guys insurance today with a number to ring so I rang them. He's admitted blame & they are swinging there process into action, Next step is an engineer coming out to have a look at the bike. I have spoke to a couple of local Bike shops/repairers & they have said they will charge/invoice to inspect the bike, All agree it will be a financial write off without even seeing it as the hourly rate/New parts etc will go well over the cost of replacement.
I told His insurance company on the phone this & he agreed which is why the engineer is coming out rather than getting quotes at this stage.
I don't want to rince the **** out of the company & can't see why the bill should go up 2 to 3 hundred quid on quotes just for the sake of it.
If the engineer comes out & agrees total loss then job done & they'll save money. Then I'll buy the bike & repair it myself as I am not under the same obligation as the insurance company & can use 2nd hand parts & my own labour.
Like i said earlier I just want my bike back as it was.
Just glad you're ok mate!

Hire bike arrived.

4 stroke knacker. :(
It makes no noise at all couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding & only does about 65-70 flat out. :(
On a plus note though I went out & rode the exact same route as my accident & it didn't faze me one bit.
I don't think I'm 'ard I know I ******* am. + :D + :p
I'm also pretty much healed apart from a strain around my groin & some sharp pain to my right hand under certain conditions.
HERP DERP :D + :p

Engineer came round to assess the damage today, He reckons it'll be a total loss & I'll hear by the end of the week, Seems a bit quick to me.
Anybody had a cut & dry claim like mine who can let me know how long it took. In all my years I've never had a single claim before. but
Crashed my car on the Monday, got written off on the Wednesday. So it was pretty quick for me.
That was a very clear cut case though as to who was to blame (me) so probably helped.
Sam says he would be super upset right there if he had that as a hire bike!!
Boo! Hope it all gets sorted soon! x :D

About the only use of the hire bike is that it may make the insurance company settle quicker as every day they waste they pay for the hire bike.
Heh this is true!! Sam said on that thing you could be the new hip guy for your local scooter gang ;)
So hope it gets settled quickly for you! Cannot wait to get a bike myself and come for a ride about with you! :)

Got my compo cheq for 1500 quid last week & it cleared Friday then on Saturday I opened a letter with a cheq for 570 in it, They gave me 600 for the bike kept 30 & let me keep my bike, It has actually worked out really well & I cannot fault the Dudes insurance one bit. In my mind/heart I've forgiven the Dude now hoping that Karma settles down for all of us, I know that don't make sense really but what I mean is there is no hate there. :)
Cheers for asking.
Ahhh fantastic Malc! And blimey, that's a relatively quick process you've been through!

Sounds like a fair result overall, obviously you'd have preferred it not to happen but as far as these things go it seems you were treated reasonably. Hope you're back to feeling 100% too. :)
