View Full Version : Bought a new watch!
Well first of all I'm sure there was a watch thread on here, but alas I cannot find it.
Anyway, yesterday I found a cracking deal on a Citizen Eco Drive.
I'm no expert when it comes to watches, (I've got a Tokyo Flash, Seiko & a nice £7 Casio in my collection) but this seemed too good to miss.

For a grand total of £81 ;D
Certainly seems a very good price :)
Where from, I'd pay that for one of those.
Not my type, but a nice watch none the less!

I agree! whilst I am a bit of an Omega fanboy, that would be perfect for every day casual wearing!

Omega are losing the plot, iirc the new price for the Planet Ocean is around £3800 double what it was 5 years ago, madness

Yeah decent price for that watch, definitely nice to wear everyday! I've been keeping an eye out for an ecodrive for under £90 on and off because i'd like it to just throw around. Something inbetween my disposable argos classic fat leather watch and my Maurice Lacroix!
picked it up from Very.co.uk :)
They are on quidco but the toolbar didn't alert me so head through them

its not about how many you buy and how often, its about the quality tbh
I have not seen a watch I have wanted since i bought my seamaster.

Quartz watches should theoretically last a looooooooooooong time though!

I don't buy watches that often but recently bought a Magrette Moana Pacific Diver and really like it.
That is a nice watch, the styling isn't what I would choose but still I can appreciate the appeal.
I don't really wear watches, but always think I would if I had a nice one, but then, I wouldn't want to wear it at work, so I just end up not wearing one at all! lol! I have a couple cheap "functional" watches - however I haven't worn them for years!
That looks great though Joe, seems a good price too! :)

I have a citizen too. I have a Skyhawk Titanium

I love it and have had absolutely no problems with it at all. Well... apart from the fact that it seems I am mildly allergic to it. I can wear my steel banded watches fine, but after a few days with this I get red, itchy blotches on my wrist... must be allergic to titanium... (actually just read about titanium allergy and it's an interesting read...)
Anyhow, I think I got a bargain. I bought it about 3 years ago (as a 40th birthday present from the missus) for £350... it looks like they are still more than that to buy new now :)

I have an old Seiko Kinetic AutoRelay which I really like though there are some nice citizen divers, especially the Citizen Orca. This is the moana pacific.

I was convinced Titanium was hypoallergenic? Like the only metal to wear if you are one of the slim few that can't wear silver or even gold!?

I always thought Ti was good in that respect too

So did I, but it seems that a small number of people are. It's just my luck... I also have another condition (wolf parkinson white syndrome) that is very rare... Why can't I be one of the small number of people who win the damn lottery instead? Lol.
I got a titanium watch for that reason & can't wear that either because my wrist just swells up, goes red & scabs up when I wear a watch for any length of time, whether it's silicone,.gold, silver, stainless steel etc... I didn't realise it could be a proper ' condition' rather than just localised dermititis. I can wear all of those things elsewhere just not as a watch : huh:

Hmmmm, not sure about that. I can wear steel, silicon, whatever else watches without any issue. I never bought the titanium version for it's hypoallergenic properties, I just liked the fact that it was lighter, but now I can only wear it for a day or so before my skin goes blotchy and itchy. My other watches are still fine.
, I just liked the fact that it was lighter, .
I don't like Ti watches for that reason, hate light watches ;D

In the hand it does feel worryingly cheap, but one the wrist you barely notice it's there :)
