View Full Version : And how has your Christmas been?
Was really looking forward to Christmas this year. Work has been really stressful and I needed a break. Quite nice to get away from it all, despite the usual Christmas stressarama. Have stuffed myself with some nice food, great barbequed Turkey yesterday and a BIG 11-person family feast. I got a cook book, some choccies and a jumper. I'm seeing some of my family tomorrow and then hopefully take it easy for a few days.
How is it going for you guys?
You lot with the kids, what time did they drag you out of your comfy beds then? :D

****.
I'll leave now :(
Had a great Christmas thank you!
Fairly quiet this year, just me and the gf round my parents for lunch yesterday, then my sister and her hubby joined us in the evening. Fairly quiet but nice just to chill out with family as that's what Christmas is all about in my opinion :)
Currently packing up ready to drive home tonight. Going to get back late but quite looking forward to my own bed tonight!
Mic is in canada so first Jingly alone - been extremely skint so loads of friends have sent food parcels and suchlike to make sure I ate. Went for a traditional Polish Jingly Eve with a friend from work and her boyfriend, then spent Jingly day round a friends having a lovely fry up brunch, whooping arse at yahtzee and then doing rattie first aid. Left there about 5 as family were arriving for dinner and although I was invited to stay, I didn't want to intrude.
Went to the cinema today (saw MI4) and have nothing planned for tomorrow; back to work on wednesday though.
had a few jealous/lonely moments but have had a few friends who have been regularly messaging me to make sure I'm ok which has helped loads.

Spent most of Christmas morning trying to revive my brothers dead iphone (which he'd only bought off me 3 days before as i'd upgraded) he's since taken a trip to the apple shop and had it replaced.
Had lots of lovely presents. A lot of it for my new home if I ever get one - fingers crossed the new year brings some better news on that front.
First year we didn't go to the pub on Christmas day. That's a good thing though. Dad still got drunk - no change there, I got out of the way before things decended too much. (he's finally said he's going to get help)
Oh and I went to watch Bristol City play today, we lost, no change there going by this season.
Hope everyone else is ok, going to take the dog for a big old stomp tomorrow. :)
I got one text message wishing my Merry Christmas. Even my remaining family didn't bother this year.
Have sat in the house as its been belting it down, up until this afternoon when I'd had enough and went out for a random drive and ended up in the Gower. We stopped off at a pub and had a really nice meal, so i'm not feeling so crap.
Saying that, really miss my mum and dad.
I spent all of it either sneezing, blowing my nose or sitting there feeling like death warmed up so not the best of days being honest.
Been pretty good :)
I've had a bad cough that's wrecked my energy levels but Christmas day was relaxing and enjoyable! Was spoilt present wise and equally my Mum was too :D Excellent food too.
I'm off work till Jan 9th so hoping to have a good, relaxing time off :D Not had more than a couple of days off since last Christmas so will be nice to have a break after a particularly fraught November and December.

Glad he's said he's going to get some help :) Hope he does do it!
My Mum's best friend's estranged husband is an alcoholic. Horrible situation to witness let alone be part of so I feel for you :( *hugs*
Saying that, really miss my mum and dad.
Know that feeling re my Dad *hugs*
Hope everyone enjoys what time off they have left before returning to work :) *hugs to those who didn't get their ideal Christmas*
I was worried about Sam and Marie so glad you both are ok!
Just before Xmas I met up with my uncle and his family who I haven't seen for about 12 years due to a family fall out that we can't actually remember. So that was lovely.
Slight issue with another part of the family which is upsetting me slightly but that's been going on a while.
Had a really bad cold so been grumpy and anti social!
But actually had a nice relaxing time and lots of nice things, plus another week off work yet to recover.
It's not over yet, and it's been pretty bloody good thus far. :)

Had my parents and mother in law over christmas eve and Em and I did our first meal for others - pretty much the full christmas meal but we forgot the stuffing :o went quite well :D
Then over the the mother in laws for christmas and boxing day with Em's nephews. Was ok, no major arguements which is rare :D
Nice and quiet relaxing few days down at the outlaws and then we're heading back home tomorrow for a couple of days before new years eve hits. Had some great pressies, eaten far too much chocolate and have some spending money left over to buy some more bits and pieces I fancy.

Very quiet for me, normally it's a bigger family affair with lots of relatives and their kids but for various reasons it was just me and my parents. Very nice and relaxed though, it's just good to be back home for a bit and seeing the folks.
Sad to hear some people have had a poop time :( Hope it picks up for you x
Ours has been quiet! Seriously awesome though! We've been healthy eating for months upon months now so eating whatever filth we desire has been great but at the same time... I'm now craving my porridge and healthy food! We had *the* yummiest meal though! Pheasant with Chestnut stuffing with a vast array of vegetables! Then yesterday we had moose steak which was omnommy (very meaty... almost metallicy!) and have been nomming cheese and pretzels and after eights and chrimbo cake too! Hahaha!
Saw Sams family a few days before Chrimbo and me Ma and Pa were in Prague over Christmas so we're seeing them today (and my Brother... not so great as he's a muppet!)! Looking forward to seeing my Sister and niece and nephew tomorrow though :D
Been spoiled rotten present wise... and a very lucky lady :)
Hoping you've all had as much fun as I :) Whoever wants to come dance off their chrimbo nommage - I now have a kinect! Please join! Wheeeeeeeeee! Hahahhaa!
I was worried about Sam and Marie so glad you both are ok!
Oh thank you *hugs* I don't mean for people to worry xx
Was good, had a nice sirloin joint of beef with the trimmings on xmas day and chilled out playing dominoes and trivial pursuits, drunk too much at night and was rough all yesterday
For once there was no mad rush this year as I was back home. Nice change and I am gradually crossing off stuff on my 'to do' list.

Worked Christmas Eve and day and working new year as well. If you're off Christmas then fair enough but your rest day new year invariably gets binned to cover the fight and domestic fest.

Been on an oil rig in the Med since the first week in January. Could have been better but could have been a lot worse (could have been in the north sea). Had a big feed on Christmas day - lobster at lunchtime and a huge buffet after I knocked off at the end of my shift (I stuffed my fat face until I could barely move :o). Will be here for new year as well but we'll get another big feed on ne'erday.
I'm due home on the 5th so I'll be celebrating 'Auld Christmas' on the 6th (that's where Christmas used to fall when we still used the Julian calendar).

Mine has been as quiet as it normally is. Went round my Sisters Xmas day for the usual family xmas meal then came back & chilled with Frank.
I've had everything I've needed I s'pose so I'm not complaining although I was sick as a dog today between 3am & 2pm, Ok now though.
Has to be said that 2011 has been a Fantastic year for me & I just don't want it to end.
On a side note I feel for you guys that have had to work, Especially when you have young kids at home. :(
Think a Group Hug is in order. :hugs:
Managed to avoid working Christmas, <snip>
In other news, Christmas was awesome, ate too much, drank too much and spent most of the day playing with new toys. Oh and we all stayed up too late.

Had a wonderful week off with my beautiful wife. Lots of lovely pressies and was re-united with my Aunts and Uncle from my fathers side of the family, who I hadn't seen for over 25 years. It was rather emotional.
Back to work now, but we've got a week off at the end of the month, so it's not so bad... :)

Wowsers, I didn't realise you actually spent that long on rigs in one stretch.

Ours was mental, 4 day old baby and a house full of people. Lovely though, Evan was totally spoilt by everyone. :)
