Some of you will have already seen this, picked up a new car today (well new to me 16 months old). It's a Honda CR-Z sport, with red leather seats. Just have the dealer photos for now which aren't great but as it's dark I can't get any of my own at the moment (will post some of my own later).

Oh and....... yeah I love it :D

Seats are a darker red than the photo, but you get the idea:

Nice :D

I like the kind of quirky style to these.

Love the styling, how does it drive with the petrol/electric combination?

I quite like the different driving modes and being able to dip in and out of eco/sport modes at the touch of a button. It still feels mostly like a petrol to me really, it's quite responsive so doesn't feel like other hybrids I've driven.

Oh and it's really miserable out so the car is a bit wet...... and it's dirty already!! But some of my own pics:

Thats pretty sexy! ;D

What engine has it got? We've got the 2.2 Civic & its so much fun to drive (although I hear the sports suspension makes the back seats rather unpleasant!).

It's a 1.5 hybrid, it's not super fast but it's nippy enough for me :)

Yeah I bet its still fun to drive, and it'll be awesomely cheap to run! :D

How much room is there in the back?

I love it, reminds me of my old CRX MKII which was the favourite car I've had after the Mini, styling is great, if I didn't need a sodding great Dad mobile I'd be very tempted myself.

Do they do one with the 2.0L V-tech found in the Type-R?

Muban
12-02-2012, 16:22
lol no the CR-Z is very much being aimed at those people that want a hybrid car but that is a bit more nippy. Really in the current climate most (non luxury) manufacturers are staying away from producing many cars that have beefier engines. It's a very small market these days.

It's not like it's a super slow car, it has the performance that most people realistically need these days. I can't remember the last time I really pushed the Prelude and took it for a good hoon. The CR-Z won't be as quick but then with petrol consumption getting close to half what I was using previously it's a compromise I can live with.

I'll have to get back to you on how much room there is in the back seat as I've not sat in it yet, the boot is a good size though.

Awww, I want a Honda to be the next car and i like the look of this CR-Z but it is slower than my Yaris...I want one quicker car before I buy something for economy, plus i think this is too new at the moment to be in my budget :)

Although it does look good !!!

Muban

Going by book figures the CR-Z is quicker than the Yaris. Though once you are around the 9-10 seconds mark I don't think speed is a main consideration anymore lol. Still, easy for me to say, I've done the quick car thing now I'm happy for an all rounder :)

Mondo

How fast is the CR-Z?

I don't have a 1.3L Yaris :p

Muban
12-02-2012, 17:22
Ahh fair enough, I didn't realise the Yaris came with a bigger engine. You learn something new every day :D Yeah the CR-Z is probably just about a second slower to 60.

Matblack
12-02-2012, 18:03
Main advantage over the Yaris is its not a Yaris, that and it looks great :D

I know! I really really love the look of the CR-Z, both inside and out, love it! Although my Yaris looks good! :p

I just wish it had the choice of a v-tech engine :(

I agree, but then the CR-Z is a very nice looking car, and it wouldn't harm too much if they gave us an edition with a forced induction engine. Come on Honda, slap a turbo on that 1.5 and give us 180hp or so...

Alternatively....

Pretty car IMHO.
These things are supposed to be really good too, with the added bonus of outstanding resale values and the fact they tend not to break.....ever.
Nice purchase.

Nice. It's got shades of the old CRX and the original Insight, which I loved.
