View Full Version : Quick Survey - shopping habits (online/supermarket/grocery)
Quick favour - friend is doing an Masters and sent out this email - if you can help him, please spare a minute, he's a lovely bloke :)
I have created a survey for a research associated with my MBA and would be grateful if you could take it via the URL indicated below. There is no personal information that is mandatorily captured via the survey. Also it should not take any more than 10 minutes of your time, so if you complete it before Wednesday, the 29th of February, then I would appreciate it. I need a larger set of people to take this survey, so your participation is really crucial for my work.

Cheers chaps :)
Done! The question about using your loyalty card to pay into your account confused me though. There was no option for 'I'm confused' so chose 'no thanks'. :D

Done, but some of the questions were a bit restrictive, so I wasn't able to accurately reply. For example "do you use comparisson websites" wit the option of "always" or "never".
Well, I do sometimes, but sometimes I don't bother. It depends what I'm buying. Now his results will show that I "never" use such sites, when, in reality, I sometimes do... just not always.
Agreed - I'll use them for some products, but for food shopping generally not.

Will do it this evening.
Thanks again :)
Yeah I mentioned that some of the questions don't cover all options and apparently he is aware of it and it's been done specifically. They said they'd rather have a negative then a false positive, and 'sometimes' would be disregarded as a 'never' anyway as they are only interested in the 'always' group for that particular question. Seems there are particular figures he has been asked to garner with the specification that there was only certain options being factored in, so people had to choose the one that best fit.
Done although I had to massively bodge it.
Supermarket or local shop.
How about Internet, through neither supermarket or local shop. Ie farms/butchers.

Done, passed it on to my dad too :D
Done didid :) And agree with Mr Volospian :) No option for sometimes, or take the time to research myself (which I guess would be a no).

As I said it's a very specific user base they're looking for and the survey is specifically tailored to find those answers. 'Sometimes' wouldn't help, so when presented it will qualify answers by saying ' when only these options were offered, xx number chose this'.
Gotta remember, when doing surveys, they often don't want the whole picture, just answers to specific questions. Sometimes they leave out alternatives to get the responses they want so they can present a certain type of view with supporting evidence.
Thanks to everyone who has done it.

Done.
Can see the need for the restrictive questions, but did dither over some of them!

That's the trouble with surveys. Often they tell the surveyor exactly what they want to hear because they have set the questions to give them the answers they want. That's why I never pay any attention to the published results.
Whenever I see a survey I always remember the episode of "Yes Minister" when they discuss the issue of re-introducing conscription...

Exactly, well when your task is tailoring a survey to show potential investors how well your product will work for them, that's what you're gonna do! ;)
There's lies, damn lies.....and statistics :D
