I can't upgrade because O2 haven't released ICS for my slightly newer S2

Well it's only taken Vodafone 6 months
Face unlock is pretty cool but you'd look a right tit using it in public ;D

Kitten isn't that happy with ICS on her S2. It is rather buggy and the phone keeps rebooting.

I flashed an ICS ROM and it seems ok. Face unlock is only useful in decent light.
Battery life seems worse but I did start playing Angry Birds again....

I was using it on an Archos. It was as buggy as hell on that as well. Hope it's better for Del.
Still using it though, it's not a show stopper yet because I really like the changes in the update. battery seems to drain about 25% faster, but I have charger at home & work so doesn't affect me too much. Hopefully will be fixed soon.

Haven't got round to ICS yet, do fancy it, but know that it has the potential to be faff (not yet official for S1 might not ever be either). I don't have the time to play with my phone in the event it all goes wrong, and my phone is essentially working damn good as it is so unusually i'm in the if it ain't broke category!
Does look nice though :) Also thinking the note/nexus/S3 anyway which would come pre-loaded or ready enough...
Lame question alert - How do I update my firmware? I'm on Gingerbread.BOKE3 which I think is what the phone came with. Maybe updating the firmware will stop my dodgy wifi issues (sometimes wifi works, sometimes it doesn't). Not bothered about upgrading to waffleconewithflake :p but a newer version of the firmware would be nice.
[edit]Ignore - Leon's just enlightened me about Kies :) Currently downloading

Not had any problems with crashes on mine, when I first got it a year ago it would crash on a daily basis but that was down to a dodgy app that I uninstalled and it's been fine since then.
Nothing to keep me interested in ICS so I'll be selling the phone and cancelling my VF contract as I have a Windows Phone from work that does everything I need it to and I'd rather have money in the bank and not be paying £15/month for something I don't really need.
Windows Phone *shudders* :p

Windows Phone *shudders* :p
Heaven forbid I have a phone that doesn't crash :p
Just updated. Arrrrgh didn't realise it'd lose all my settings. Can't remember how to re-prettify it now! haha
Well it seems to be OK apart from when I click on Google Search or Web n Walk, which just seems to crash every single time. That makes the internet pretty much unusable. Lovely! :/
Ah, sorted :) Looks like it might have resolved my dodgy wifi connection. Fingers crossed!!

Not moved across yet. Several apps I use pretty much daily aren't ICS compatible yet *sigh*
Don't really feel the need either. Happy on 2.3.5.
Yep, very pleased with it. Love the Swype updates too.
Just wish there was a way to stop text message text scrolling across the screen without cancelling notifications altogether. That's the most annoying thing about the phone

I'd rather have a phone that crashed in an eternal loop (although I should be careful what I wish for ;)) than use a Windows phone! I have very bad memories, but that was a fairly long time ago (HTC Touch HD, pre-iphone 3G)
Kate, I'm pretty sure you can, mine doesn't do that, I have it set to just show the message notification (that one's arrived) but it doesn't show the message.

I never used Windows Mobile 6 but still have a very old Windows Mobile 5? handset knocking around somewhere that put me off smartphones for quite a while. MS has really moved things on with Mobile 7.5, I'm not going to claim it's better than iOS or Android as 95% of the time they are much of a muchness but it does do a couple of things differently and once you get used to them it works very well.
Personally as a geek I'd rather have an Android phone, just not £400 over the next year and the hassle of carrying two handsets worth.
Understandable, I'm sure it's moved on leaps & bounds, I just hated the old setup, the back end was so boring & difficult to navigate.
Still, to save £35 a month, I'd probably learn to live with it.
Yeah you're right Tracy. It doesn't scroll across the top when locked anymore. Big improvement.
Battery life is depleted add you say but I'm very happy with the update apart from that. It's like having a new phone :-)
Yay! When I upgraded I changed my theme & played around a bit and you are so right, it felt like a completely new phone! I really like the new features/look.
Sure they'll sort the few issues, and I think its a rogue app using up loads of memory & forcing reboot on me (although hasn't happened since Thursday)
Mine hasn't rebooted or frozen once since I sorted out the web n walk issue. Must be an app, as you say, conflicting with ICS.
I've absolutely no idea how to change themes. Leon's Galaxy S is all pimped and customised, but I've never bothered with my S2. Might have to have a play :)

I just updated mine this morning and it's... basically the same as it was before :p
Apart from a few new features here and there and some changes in menu styling, you'd be hard pressed to tell it apart from Android 2 :(
