View Full Version : iPhone : Ringtone a ma bobs
Em has just got a second hand iphone 4. Is it really the case that even if you've bought a song on itunes you can't use it as a ringtone without paying for it again as a ringtone? What the hell?!

There is a way, I had to make it into a sample I think. Mr Leo helped me do it I seem to remember. Or you could get the tune from "another source"
I think you have to save the file to your PC, and then add it back to itunes as a ringtone. There is a way round it.
Thanks :) Just spent a while getting an mp3 into a ringtone sort of format - and then even longer getting it onto the phone itself.
I always thought I wouldn't like Apple stuff - now I *know* I do! How many hoops just to get a non DRM song into a ringtone... Aargh!

What you have to do is set a 30 second portion of the song you want to use as the ringtone. You do this by accessing the properties of the file.
You then export that to AAC file and change the extension from mp4 to mpr. Reimport that into iTunes and you have a ringtone :)
Got it :)
Again, from what I've read that doesn't work with songs you've legally bought through itunes?

Would be great if you could - I'm now giving tech support for something I've never looked at before ;D but no rush, she seems happy with the current one :)
