View Full Version : Barebooks?
Basically a barebones laptop, anyone know any places to get these from? Google is being useless. Basically I want the shell, keyboard/touchpad, mobo, the rest i want to do myself. Cant really find any decent form of selection seems to be all Asus or something or other and not too many variants at that.:)

Going by a post on another forum Syntax make laptop barebones, I think there are a few more companies as well but normally they only sell to systems integrators in bulk. Also take a look at Laptopking (http://www.laptopking.com/) as that appears to sell most of the parts you would need.
However I'm really not sure it is worthwhile, building a laptop isn't particularly easy as I understand it because you have to be even more careful than normal about heat dissipation etc and if you buy pre-built you will at least have a warranty and reassurance that it will work.

Thanks for the input, I know it would probably be better off to just buy a pre built one but cant seem to find one that has what I want, if the specs are ok the actual case is fugly and if I find one I like the look of the spec isnt up to scratch....meh!....ill have another scan through and see if I can find what im looking for. chers!!! ;)
