so, i'm sat at work, and Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss comes on. i love this 3-track ep enough as it is, but as Illuminate My Heart, My Darling! slowly creeps to its climax, i actually have to stop working...all my skin is tingling...and it occurs to me that i've not felt like that about a song, ever.

If you can find it, definitely get it. If i'm allowed to post it here, then i will. i'm afraid i'm not up on the copyright/warez of the forum!

yeah, Sigur Rós are a pretty good call. i've overlistened to them now though, but Agætis Byrjun is in my top 20 albums

You've set me off now,

Ryan Adams - La Cienega Just Smiled
Nick Drake - Things Behind The Sun
Roddy Frame - Small World

are also beautiful.

'74-'75 by The Connels gets me like a spear through the heart. There's not any real depth to the lyrics but it's so heartfelt and lets you read into the lyrics whatever you want. Beautiful.

Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodriguez (ok it's a classical piece) but that really moves me everytime I hear it.

For beautiful songs, I do love Eva Cassidy's version of Songbird is absolutely gorgeous.

Debussy - Clair De Lune does it for me :)

Teardrop my Massive Attack (I think everyone knows why by now) makes me cry pretty much everytime.

I'm not quite sure but I think it is a bit dubious, at least until Burbleflop reads his copy of the contract for here anyway. I'll keep a look out for that song though.

Wilco - Jesus etc is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard but it doesn't mean anything hugely much to me on a personal level. I just like it.

I prefer 'We Flood Empty Lakes', the track before that one.

I'm in love with all three though, they're bliss.

I've always liked The KLF's Elvis on the Radio, Steel Guitar In My Soul.

i just got the japanese version - it has an extra track :)

i just love that bit in Illuminate my Heart where it builds up towards the end. all 3 tracks are brilliant though. they really know what they're doing when building up a song. i'd love to see them

I can't seem to be able to 'get hold' of this Yndi Halda... prehaps if Sic it accidently got uploaded and the URL accidently appeared in sombody's email then I'm sure that would solve problems no?

This song makes me stop what im doing whenever I hear it. I really recommend listening to it if you have never heard it.

fc kahuna - Hayling
Dire Straights - Brothers in Arms
Orion - Eternity (Acoustic Mix)
Rank 1 vs Tosca - Airwave (Sunset Mix)

A few songs that I've dug out tonight and haven't heard in a while - love them all, they each remind me of a particular point in my life.

edit: I don't know the history behind it, but regardless, Matblack has it sewn up with Massive Attack - Teardrop. Stunning song.

/me nods sagely. That particular song really gets to me.

I've been racking my brains since this thread started and was beginning to worry that I couldn't think of any particular song which moved me.

Then I stumbled across one tonight - Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor - makes my skin crawl for some reason and if I watch the video with her crying, I get a lump in my throat (probably because I remember an interview where she said that she was actually crying during the video - she was thinking about her Mam's death or something like that).

Stan :)

Awesome track, although 'Beautiful' gets to me more than Fugazi does, especially having heard it sung live several times.

I'd forgotten that one. Good call.

I don't know 'Beautiful'. Where's that from?

Aqueous transmission by incubus has a habit of setting me off.

It's such a calming song, and has sentimental value for me :)

I had to do a soliloquy to teardrops for theatre studies - apparently it was a really heart wrenching performance but I think the secret to it was the song which just helped the tears flow at all the right moments and allowed for stunning dramatic pauses ;)

Fantastic song, really is.

I am doing my darndest to get my hands on Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss Sic... looks like I may have to PM you!

My personal favourite at the moment is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere over the rainbow. When I heard it was due to be put out on radio 1 I threw a right strop as I know it will become majorly commercialised :( Boo. My friend described his voice as "melted chocolate" and he's not half right!

Radio wise the same thing happened with Jose Gonzalezs Heartbeats. Still love it though!

Don't Prey for Me - Little Angels
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straights
Tango in the Night - Fleetwood Mac
