Anyone used these guys?
They have the B5 Complete Universe for £110 and I have a 'spend over £100 and get £10' thing from the net :)
Says its in stock, Play have it for £120
We borrowed the first two series from Sam and Mic and we're enjoying it so much that I feel like its worth buying, especially that that price.

God, I so don't need to be spending any money right now. B5 rocks.

Well if you like B5 this thing has pretty much everything ever produced
This mamoth of a box set contains
Babylon 5 Seasons 1-5
all the Babylon 5 films:
-Legend Of The Rangers
-The Gathering
-In The Beginning
-Third Space
-Call To Arms
-River Of Souls
Crusade Season 1
All the movies and the spin off series!
Muchos impressive for £100 when the series are RRP £54.99 and still £24.99 in the HMV sale so for the price of 4 series I get all 5 and the movies and Crusade Hmmmmm might have to get the credit card out :)
MB
Yup, the card might be out for that. I need to replace some networking hardware as well, so that's another £150. That's it for this year. No more money for such non-essentials.
I'll wait for others to comment on whether they're any good.
Yeah - the gits didn't release that until after I'd bought seasons 1-4 for Mic :/
Glad you're enjoying them :)

It arrived about a week after ordering it, I did have to chase it though, interestingly payment hasn't left my account yet, we'll wait and see if it does.
It is quite litteraly all the existing boxsets together in a large box, three of the movies are grouped in one box set and then there are 2/3 loose and a boxset of the Crusade series in there too.
Just like the B5 box sets seperately the artwork on the fifth series spine doesn't quite match the rest which is a minor annoyance when you have the box to keep them all in :)

They took payment very quickly from me. I've had stuff that was shipped after the B5 boxset, but not the boxset itself. :(

Chase it by email, they responded very quickly to me :)
Fingers crossed they won't take the money, rubs hands

Bleurgh. The Customs man, he want £23.51. Guess I should have seen that coming. :(
Sheepishly pays. :(
Well, I've got it. I nearly dropped the box when collecting it. Heavy.
Now I just need to pick out a few really good episodes to remind myself why B5 rocks. Suggestions welcome. :)
NOT Grey 17 is missing!!!!!
You have a very valid point there. If I chose that one first, I may end up never watching any other episode ever again.
PS - Matt. I am still not amused. :p

Well I still haven't been charged by Foxy and as you know customs let it through too :D
However I did pay £25 customs charge on my New Years outfit :(

I think I should demand a refund and therefore free copy tbh.
Still haven't watched any of it either. :embarassed:
Not half :p We'll just skip season 1 and start directly at 2 ;)
What?!? NOOO! You're missing out quite a few things. A hell of a lot of things tbh. You need to watch B5 from "The Gathering" to the end. B5 is about characters, about how they grow and change. Its about making choices and living with the consequences. By skipping season 1 you're skipping an entire year of their lives. Its like skipping the 1st Lord of the Rings.
NOT Grey 17 is missing!!!!!
Ok so one part is a tad dull but it has some awesome moments with Marcus.
If you want top eps...
Messages from Earth
Severed Dreams
Shadow Dancing
Into the Fire
War without end 1 & 2
Z'ha Dum
Babylon Squared
The coming of the shadows, omg!
No surrender, no retreat
End game
Each end of season cliff hanger
Thank god this thing isn't available as a drug :D There is one episode I haven't watched in about 5 years. Thats the final one. I've got a strong desire to watch it with the commentary but its quite an episode. I heard that JMS also hadn't rewatched the episode for about 5 years before doing the commentary. I can't imagine how hard that must have been for him.
Well, I can a little I guess.
You mean the end of Season 5. Yeah, it is a bit of a   :undecided: :'( type, and I've not watched it in a long time.
Very good list there btw. Recognise some of the names but not all. :)
Complete Universe at Amazon for £72.97 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Babylon-Complete-Universe-Bruce-Boxleitner/dp/B000B7KXEU/?tag2=hotukdeals-21)!
Holy Thread resurrection...
I've been working my way through B5 courtesy of my LoveFilm subscriptions. It makes ideal viewing for my commute, one episode each way. I've got a half dozen episodes left of series 2 and am absolutely loving it. Can't believe I mostly missed this back in the day and wrote it off as not being all that good. Some of the concepts introduced so far are quite interesting to my geeky mind. The episode I saw today resulted in Vir showing some amazing backbone in dealing with Morden (loved his response to the "What do you want" question), and Nightwatch. Nightwatch sounds great in theory, and the way the mini-pax guy was presenting it made it seem like a good idea, but some of the way he said stuff made me think its going to turn into secret police or similar, maybe Gestapo style? We'll see I guess :)
Vir's words should be remembered - that's all I'll say about that. As for Nightwatch, you'll find out your answer soon enough.
:D I just rewatched S2-4 the other week. It still hasn't been beaten by any other show imho. Its a shame most shows now rely on the old final 5 minutes to create drama and hook people in for the next episode. 24 for example. If I lived in their universe I wouldn't do anything for 50 minutes. Then I'd go out for a beer. No way in hell I'm sticking around CTU close to the hour ;)

With the exception of "Space:Above and Beyond" I'd agree with you.
Both are fantastic and both had a less than smooth ride throughout their productions.
Too sophis for those darn 'merkins.

At it's best B5 was brilliant(And now for a word, The corps is mother, the corps is father, And the sky full of stars) but at it's worst(Grey 17 is missing, A late delivery from Avalon) it made Blakes 7 look like 2001.
More good than bad overall though.
For consistent sci-fi awesomeness new BSG is setting the new benchmark though.
TBH BSG lost it after the first few episodes of S3. Its been really hit n miss in S4. Seems to be slowly dragging its heels, which is a damn shame because the first 2 seasons were great.
I never got into BSG. Most likely due to missing the first few episodes, and that in turn most likely to not wanting to be disappointed having watched the original. If they ever re-run from the start I might try and watch.

Pete - Yeah S3 was iffy in places but still got it's feet back under it enough to reach a great finale. Not seen any of Season 4 yet.
Mark - Start with the mini series and after that you'll be hooked. I can practically guarantee it. Gaius Baltar is just about the greatest TV character ever.
Oh aye S3 finale was fantastic. I've seen all of S4 thats been aired and well I'm just annoyed really. I expected the final season to be tighter but it still seems like they're having to write an entire season of waffle to explain the ending.

To be honest S5 was a complete let down for me after seasons 3 & 4.
Going to watch the lost tales in the next few days, should be good.
Are you back on B5 now? :)
Yeah, S5 was a bit random. JMS had planned out five seasons but when the studio execs loomed proclaiming their doom and gloom (as they do) S5 got squashed into the last few episodes of S4 and then the renewal happened and (bar the finale) there was no material. :(
As for BSG, it'll have to be re-televised for me to see it. Buying an unknown seems unlikely and downloading seems iffy. :)

What about a rental?
Most DVD rental .coms have free trial periods.

I've always been on B5 Mark just haven't watched it for a while. Need to get Kitten into it ;)
Temporarily back to BSG - Rental isn't a bad idea - I just found a 3-month code for Lovefilm on hotukdeals.
Is the miniseries part of season 1 or before season 1? :dunno:

which mini-series?
They're listed as two seperate things on Lovefilm. :dunno:

There are more than 2 B5 things on LF Mark, I'm sorry I'm not sure what you mean.
Done some researched and answered my own question - Miniseries, S1, S2, S3, S4, in that order. :)
Ah sorry I meant BSG S3 & 4 were iffy. B5 S3 & 4 were pretty much the highlights of the show.

Yep. I warn you the missus got hooked on it. The DVD would arrive through the post, open envelope, straight in the machine, 4 eps back to back and then straight back in the post and twitch oddly until the next one arrived.
Quite sad to see in some ways ;D
Do yourself a favour and skip the TV Movie BSG:Razor. It was a bit pish.
That's supposed to be around the S4 timeframe, so I doubt I'll be going there. :)
S4 of Battlestar is so far proving to be a bit.. well... meh. They've tried to be way too clever IMO, and they've lost me entirely. I'm following whats going on but taking no real joy in it, though I'll see the series through to the end because there is no way I couldn't after having watched all the series so far.

Razor is set around S2. Its an interesting watch in the grand scheme of things but a bit of a let down as a standalone film.
Just watched the inquisitor episode.
What an absolutely atrocious overdub right at the end. Sheridan clearly says "West end" but the dub is "East End" correcting the mistake he made when exposing Sebastian as Jack The Ripper
