After sticking up the HTML/CSS/XHTML books the other day it gave me the slap on the arse to try and get a site up again.

I have my own webspace and do actually have a blog which sadly hasn't been updated in a while...anyway. The only reason that is up is because it sets itself up and I can get themes for it.

So I throw open the floor to all BD to help me design my site. Layout wise I'm not really fussed. Theme wise i'd like to try and keep the blog colours but if people have a better theme to suggest I'll certainly take a look and if I like it we're a go :)

I've been learning CSS and stuff myself but don't have the creative flair to get what I see in my head on screen, so any web gurus who want to help me out beers are my currency :D

EDIT: blog link is found in my sig :D

Might be an idea to get the blog working so we can see the design it currently has ;) :p

Well for a start your right hand navbar has been pushed all the way down to the bottom. Without trawling through your code I would assume that the container is a fixed width, the middle content is fixed width (either percentage of pixel), and the width of the right nav bar is too big to fit in what space is left, so has been pushed down. Play about with the width's in the css and you should find the point where it jumps back into place :)

Edit: On looking through the page again, I reckon it could well be because of the large image near the bottom, it's stretched into the area I would expect the right nav div to be, pushing it down. Remove the picture or shrink it and the nav div should go back where it's meant to be.

Cheers for the reply, I've been looking at the page here and can't quite see what you mean about the right navbar :(

Which image do I need to shrink?

It's called wrap.jpg, and it's under the Futher Office Pranks section.

I'm using 1024*768 on this work pc (only a crappy 15" monitor), so you may not experience the problem on bigger resolutions. :)

ah right. I'll sort it, I just 1024*768 at home on the iBook. Here at work I've tried to resize the display but not seen anything.

I'll change that file now :D

EDIT: how does that look now??

Right I've cobbled together a simple site design. This was just something to get me up and running. Feel free to play with it, break it, etc.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here (http://www.badasszebedee.com) is my feeble attempt :D

Haha you've said exactly the same thing my mate Andy said to me. I'm just not sure what to put up on it :p

Oh I did add a simple CSS gallery :)

snip

uppercase P has been fixed :D

I've tried the unordered lists but if I turn on the CSS it looks daft. Do I need to edit the CSS so it doesn't have the bullet points? I'm not entirely sure what you mean by it though. Please tell me :)

EDIT: just checked and the CSS and HTML validates :)

And if you really want to push it, have a look at Listamatic (http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/). If you can't find it there, you're in trouble. :)
