Stoned Sour - Through The Glass

Stumbled across this song, and I love it. Such a lovely song.

I've never heard of them, and neither have any of my friends. Are they a good band? Or was this song just a one hit wonder?

Do you mean Stone Sour? If so then yes, great band :) Fronted by Corey Taylor (the lead singer of Slipknot) who actually has an amazing voice when he's not screeching into the mic (and even then he carries a tune bloody well).

I've got their first eponymously titled album, this isn't on it so I guess they have a new one out.


Quick check on Amazon shows the track to be called 'Through Glass' from their new album 'Come What (Ever) May' released in July :)

I actually prefer Stone Sour as a lot of the stuff is much more mellow.. I do like slipknot, I just hate all the little kiddies that follow them. They're a good band, have a clever image and play damn good music. It's why I like System so much.. Yes they do the angry 'scare your parents' music, but they also do the incredibly melodic beautiful, meaningful songs...

luckily for me, i can listen to music without having to worry about anyone else who listens to it. do you think anyone would ever listen to jazz if they ever met a proper jazz fanatic? honestly, after reading some of the write-ups for Miles Davis albums, it's some of the most pretentious tripe ever. but yeah, don't care about the kids that listen to it one little bit.

i prefer Slipknot because they're a lot more violent than Stone Sour, whom i just find rather boring...there's a couple of good songs on there, but it just seems like trying to be melodic so they can write hooks and get everyone singing their songs but that really doesnt do it for me. And i don't like SOAD either...diffr'nt strokes, and all that.

speaking of what you normally listen to, have you listened to Blackfield? i think they're somehow affiliated with Porcupine Tree - don't know how but looking it up will take like 5 seconds! :p

Blackfield frickin' rock!! I saw them when they played in London in September 2004 where they were supported by Anathama (playing an acoustic set) and Steven Wilson (along with Ben Coleman for a couple of tracks). It was one of the best gigs I've been to.

They're playing London again on the 16th Feb, but I'll be in San Francisco then so I'll miss out.

As for the affiliation, Steven Wilson is co-lead singer, co-guitarist and co-writer for Blackfield along with Aviv Geffen. Blackfield (the track) was originally destined for In Absentia but SW decided that it wasn't PT enough and after meeting up with Aviv, the band was born.

i really like them too. only discovered them because i wanted to hear more Porcupine Tree (had Out Absentia, not a great album imho) and this album was in the torrent i downloaded.

Blackfield and Porcupine Tree are well worth looking up. If you don't like PT then listen to some of their other stuff before making your mind up. Their style has changed a fair bit over the years.
