1st was good, 2nd one was just one set-piece after another with a vague plot put in place to get you from one piece to the next :p I enjoyed it to start with but by half-way through it was getting monotonous.
"I know, wouldn't it be cool to have them fighting on rolling logs"
"Lets make it a giant hamster wheel! We could have someone inside it then too!"
"Hmm.. how do we get a giant hamster wheel into the film? Ohhhh! We'll randomly put in a mill with a water wheel! Perfect!!"

I liked them both, but I thought the 1st one was fab. Which for a Disney film I'm surprised I'm saying such things!

Nothing wrong with Disney films I guess, but I'm old and cynical and grumpy and find things like that less cutesy as I used to. They're ok I guess, but you're a girl you're allowed to like cutesy films ;)

I'm looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean 3 than Spiderman 3 tbh.

I thought Spiderman 1 was great and 2 was just poop, however PotC 1 rocked and 2 was an ok setup to what should be a third that rocks

Hope some of that makes sense! :p

And I *LOVE* Disney movies! :D

On a similar theme, I've just seen Superman Returns, I loved it! Again, darker then the originals, I really hope they continue this series too! And we need Christian Bale back as Batman too, is that in the offing does anyone know?

I thought Superman Returns was OK, but about 40 minutes too long. It seemed to lose itself in the middle before recovering. It also had a couple of plot ideas that should either have been followed through further or never introduced in the first place.

Agree about Batman :D

Yes, in a sequel called The Dark Knight (the first Batman film to not have the name in the title), tentatively pencilled in for a 2008 release :)

Superbaby?

No real reason for that to be in the story at all from what I can tell.

I'd agree there. There were a couple of points where I thought 'right...here it comes' and it never did. Maybe it'll be explored more int he next one.

The whole concept doesn't sit right with me I'm afraid. Other superheros maybe, but Superman has always been the upstanding member of society, always trying to do things properly, keeping to a very high moral code. The concept of him sleeping with Lois outside of marriage just doesn't fit in my head with his personality; or at least the personality he always used to have.
The only assumption from what is said in the film was that it occured at the time of the "My Night with Superman" article in the first film; and its blatant from that film he didn't sleep with her.

There have been a few comic book series covering this kind of event, usually linked in with Red Kryptonite in some form.
Batman kicks evil Superman's arse  Yet one more reason why Batman is one of my favourite superheros. Alongside Iron Man he is the only superhero without powers, and Iron Man cheats outrageously anyway with his suit of armor making him nearly invulnerable.

Will

Powers are cool though :D

Ah yes red kryptonite - I got quite into Smallville (until I was forced to leave the country for work) and they featured that a few times. Every superhero seems to have a bit of a weakness... I guess that's what makes them "human".

If you want a "human" superhero I don't think it gets any better than Spider-Man, certainly in the comics. He was the first real superhero to have a proper life outside of fighting crime and it was was made him so popular. His problems have changed over the years but they've not gotten any easier for him :)

Will

Gotten?! Are you american dude?! :p (just kidding matey! :lubu: )

Yeah I did like Superman from that point of view - and the fact he was just so inconspicuous. The problem with Superman is that he has just too much moral code it gets frustrating after a while. Spiderman somehow gets away with it. I really used to love all these Marvel comics.

I've not read the series Garp's on about, but I know Superman gave batman a kryptonite ring in case he went bad. If you read the graphic novel called "Tower of Babel" you see that Batman had plans to take out the entire Justice League of America, and how well those plans work.

Garp

Skill, pure and utter skill.

That and Kryptonite

I love batman as a character. He's just an ordinary human being, beset by his personal demons, fighting to clean up the streets of the city he loves.
He's trained himself up to the peak of physical and mental condition, and in multiple different fighting disciplines to try to ensure there isn't a situation he can't handle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman

Batman (originally referred to as the Bat-Man and still sometimes as the Batman) is a DC Comics fictional superhero who first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939. He has since become, along with Superman and Spider-Man, one of the world's most recognized superheroes.[1] Batman was co-created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, although only Kane receives official credit for the character. Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, a billionaire industrialist, playboy, and philanthropist. Witnessing the murder of his parents as a child leads him to train himself to the peak of physical and intellectual perfection, don a costume, and fight crime. Unlike most superheroes, he does not possess any superhuman powers or abilities; he makes use of intellect, detective skills, science and technology, physical prowess, and intimidation in his war on crime.

Just back from the cinema, I loved it. Well, I loved Bryce Dallas Howard mainly.

I really enjoyed it, although it was guilty of a bit of 'padding' at times. Bryce Dallas Howard was good too.

CGI was awesome, as per usual these days. Acting was good, especially from Bryc....you get the idea. :embarassed:

It was SUPPPPPEEEERB!

I hearted it - it made my heart flutter, filled my eyes with uber graphics and my brain with the wish to BE spideyman.

Between Picky and I, I think I would best fit spideyman. I know Pickys the nerd, but I like dressing up more and have the same dance moves as the man! *jiggles*

Oh yeh, something that's bothering me, is Toby Maguire good looking? I can't decide. Same goes for Kirsten Dunst? I think she's pwetty but there's something about her teeth. I think I watched the Interview with the Vampire filum too much when I was littler. :)

I skipped this thread ages ago because I didn't want to accidently read a spoiler. I saw Spiderman 3 yesterday and I was left a bit disapointed. Too much of some elements, not enough of some others and I was really disapointed to find that Danny Elfman wasn't doing the score. It was good but I felt it should have been great.

On a side note regarding Superboy. Somethings been bugging me. Supes and Lois sleep together in 2, then at the end he wipes her memory by kissing her (lol?). Then she has a kid with super powers. Clearly there's only one person who could be the father but surely she can't remember that night. Shouldn't she be writing "I was raped by Superman" or something?

Ahh boo... maybe I'm too much of a sucker for spideyman. I thought it was very edible! NUMNUM NUM NUM Munch MUNCH munch. ;D

As for superboy... may be the whole sex thing they had was a bit like pretty woman - she would boink but not kiss!

My only explanation in offer!

A question for Spidey fans.

In the comics, does J. Jonah Jameson ever realise he's wrong about Spiderman or is he still thick as camel droppings?

Saw this with Phil and Vix on Monday - not bad, slow start, bit too much pointless talky stuff (I have no problem with talky films but I prefer it if it adds to or helps progress the plot), but it was still a fun film :)

Garp

In the comics, does J. Jonah Jameson ever realise he's wrong about Spiderman or is he still thick as camel droppings?

Nope, never. J Jonah is a perpetual thorn in Spidey's side. He fainted dead away when Spidey revealed himself to be Peter Parker during the Civil War events. He has a perpetual hatred of everything masked for various reasons (his wife in the comics was killed by a 'mask', and he's been humiliated several times by them). He's actually a really good and genuine guy, completely anti-crime and corruption with good intentions at heart.. just not where it comes to capes/masks :D
