View Full Version : It's a bargain
Car in on Friday for discs and pads all round , also a brake fluid change while its there
The good news it's cheaper than the Subaru was
The bad news it it's still £970 :'(
That's at a BMW specialist independent using genuine parts
The BMW dealers wanted another £225
ooof and I was worrying about a possible 500 on a cambelt :(
£500 for a cambelt change are you taking it to "Daylight Robbery Sons" ?

What scares me not is the price you paid to have your car done, but the Subaru price!!!
how much will THAT cost me!
Not being funny, but for discs and pads, that's gotta be worth doing yourself. Not that I'd have any idea how to do it but I'm sure I'd give it a shot ;D

It's not that bad :) done dics and pads on my polo and pads on our Laguna. It's a doddle :)
It's fairly easy if you've got the right tools. I borrowed a caliper winding tool which makes life a lot easier, other than that it can be a bit of an arse to do...

Fronts were £620 + vat for parts and then about £150 labour

There is one major reason why I won't do them myself
I can't be arsed ;D
the other minor issue is that the M3 doesn't some with a jack a a lot of trolley jacks won't fit underneath
oh and I can't be arsed :p
I reckon it's just because you can't be arsed ;) :p

I was going to reply to that but .................... ;D
Well, got away without rear discs
had front discs and pads , rear pads and a brake fluid change
Total bill £603
suppose it could have been worse
I had front and rear disks, pads and fluid done for £279 and that was pagids with Zimmerman disks. Did it myself though and it took the best part of 3 hours, wath random Carling drinking in between.

:D

:D
The labour for changing both set of pads, the front discs and the fluid was £99+ vat
It would probably have taken me the best part of a day to do that so it just wasn't worth it
oh and also I am a lazy ****** as you rightly point out ;D
